A vehicle body front structure includes a powertrain, a pair of side members, a suspension member, a first load transmission member and a second load transmission member. The powertrain has an engine and a continuously variable transmission that are juxtaposed to each other along the vehicle width direction. The side members are disposed on the outside of the power train in the vehicle width direction. The suspension member is disposed below the side members. The first and second load transmission members mounted to the side members and the suspension member. In the power train, the continuously variable transmission is disposed on the load-transmission-member side, and has a pair of variable speed pulleys (an input-side pulley and an output-side pulley). Thus, the load received by the first and second load transmission members can be reliably transmitted to the engine through the variable speed pulleys.

Vehicle body front structure

A vehicle passenger restricting system is provided to restrict passenger movement so that a space between a passenger's head and the ceiling of the vehicle is effectively enlarged when a rollover condition occurs. The vehicle passenger restricting system has a passenger seat, a rollover detector, a seat tilting device and a controller. The rollover detector detects a vehicle rollover condition. The vehicle passenger restricting device restricts passenger movement on the passenger seat. The seat tilting device tilts the seat in a backward direction. The controller activates the seat tilting device to recline the seat backwards when the rollover detector detects the vehicle rollover condition exists. Preferably, the controller also operates the restricting device when it determines that a rollover condition exists.

Vehicle passenger restricting system for vehicle rollover condition

A vehicle passenger restraining system comprises a plurality of passenger restraining devices, upper and lower deformation detecting devices, and a passenger restraining device operating unit. The upper deformation detecting device is disposed in a generally central upper end of a first lateral side of a cabin to output one of a first signal indicative of a first load input from a first direction and a second signal indicative of a second load input from a second direction. The lower deformation detecting device is disposed in a generally central lower end of the first lateral side to output a third signal indicative of a third load input from a third direction. The passenger restraining device operating unit is configured to determine a load input characteristic based on the first, second and third signals to operate at least one of the passenger restraining devices in accordance with the load input characteristic.

Vehicle passenger restraining system

A vehicle passenger restraining system is basically comprises a plurality of passenger restraining devices, a deformation detecting device and a passenger restraining device operating unit. The passenger restraining devices are configured and arranged to restrain a passenger inside a vehicle. The deformation detecting device is coupled to a vehicle body of the vehicle with the deformation detecting device being configured and arranged to detect a deformation condition of the vehicle body. The passenger restraining device operating unit is configured to obtain impact information of the vehicle based on the deformation condition detected by the deformation detecting device, and to selectively operate at least one of the passenger restraining devices in accordance with the impact information.
