A transmitter and receiver integrated optical sub-assembly includes a housing including a side wall structure and a bottom wall, a transmitter-side optical receptacle and a receiver-side optical receptacle attached to the side wall structure, a second circuit board inserted into the housing, laser diodes and photo diodes arranged on the bottom wall, a transmitter-side optical system that is disposed on the bottom wall and combines optical signals from the laser diodes, a receiver-side optical system that is disposed on the bottom wall and splits an optical signal from the receiver-side optical receptacle, a driver integrated circuit, and an amplifying integrated circuit. In the transmitter and receiver integrated optical sub-assembly, electrodes formed at the other end portion of the second circuit board are connected to the driver integrated circuit and the amplifying integrated circuit.

Transmitter and receiver integrated optical sub-assembly and optical module

A multiplexing optical system in an optical transmitter module has first to third wavelength selective filters and a reflection mirror. The reflection mirror reflects a fourth optical signal to make it enter the first wavelength selective filter and reflects a third optical signal to make it enter the third wavelength selective filter. The third wavelength selective filter reflects a second optical signal to make it enter the second wavelength selective filter and transmits the third optical signal to make it enter the second wavelength selective filter. The first wavelength selective filter transmits a first optical signal to make it enter the second wavelength selective filter and reflects the fourth optical signal to make it enter the second wavelength selective filter. The second wavelength selective filter transmits the first and fourth optical signals and reflects the second and third optical signals to make them enter a lens.

Optical transmitter module

An optical transceiver includes: a first WDM filter which reflects a first optical signal from a first light source and passes a second optical signal from a second light source; a first total reflection mirror which reflects the first optical signal to make it enter the first WDM filter; a second total reflection mirror which reflects the second optical signal; and a second WDM filter which reflects the second optical signal reflected by the second total reflection mirror to make it enter the first WDM filter. The first and second WDM filters are disposed on a light path, the first and second light sources are disposed back and forth along the light path on both sides thereof, the first and second total reflection mirrors are disposed outside the light path, and an incident angle of the first optical signal to the first WDM filter is smaller than 45 degrees.

Optical module

An optical module includes a housing, an optical adapter attached to an end portion of the housing, and an optical transmitter and receiver assembly mounted in the housing. The optical transmitter and receiver assembly includes a TOSA including a plurality of light-emitting elements, a ROSA including a light-receiving element, and a circuit board electrically connected to the TOSA and the ROSA. The TOSA further includes a TOSA base having an opposing side surface on which the plurality of light-emitting elements are oppositely arranged so as to form at least one pair. The circuit board includes a first flexible substrate mounting the TOSA and a first rigid substrate connected to the first flexible substrate. The first flexible substrate includes a TOSA base facing-portion facing the TOSA base, and a connection portion extending from both end portions of the TOSA base-facing portion and connected to the plurality of light-emitting elements.

An optical module includes a housing, an optical adapter attached to an end portion of the housing, and an optical transmitter assembly mounted in the housing. The optical transmitter assembly includes a TOSA including a plurality of light-emitting elements for outputting optical signals, and a circuit board electrically connected to the TOSA. The TOSA further includes a TOSA base having opposing side surfaces on which the plurality of light-emitting elements are oppositely arranged so as to form at least one pair. The TOSA base includes a light outputting surface having an optical component mounting portion formed thereon, and the optical component mounting portion mounts an optical multiplexer including a plurality of filters.

A direct attach cable includes a cable connected to a paddle card, a housing formed to store the paddle card and the end portion of the cable, a latch engaged with an engaging portion of a plate spring provided on the cage when the housing is inserted in the cage, a de-latching lever in a lever shape for releasing the engagement between the latch and the plate spring, the de-latching lever pushing up the plate spring to disengage the engaging portion of the plate spring from the latch, a link formed in a frame shape so as to be fitted to the housing on the rear end side in the insertion direction, the link pushing up the plate spring via the de-latching lever by moving toward the rear end side, and a pull-tab for moving the link on the rear end side of the housing in the insertion direction.

Direct attach cable

There is provided a filter assembly for combining a wavelength multiplexed optical signal by multiplexing optical signals of different wavelength emitted from respective optical devices, and/or for dividing a wavelength multiplexed optical signal into optical signals of different wavelength and causing the optical signals of different wavelength to enter respective optical devices. This filter assembly comprises: a light transmitting member within which each optical signal propagates; plural optical filters disposed on an upper face of the light transmitting member at a predetermined spacing wherein each optical signal passes through the optical filters; upper reflective layers respectively provided between adjacent ones of the optical filters; and a lower reflective layer provided on a lower face of the light transmitting member, and wherein the wavelength multiplexed optical signal propagates along the same optical path within the light transmitting member.

Filter assembly and optical module using same

An electronic module is provided with a module body for being removably inserted into a cage; a latch member provided in the module body for engaging an engagement hole formed in the cage during insertion into the cage; a rotatable nail for engaging/disengaging the engagement hole of the cage and being rotatably provided in the module body so as to appear above and sink below a module body surface; and a control member provided in the module body for rotating the rotatable nail.

Electronic module

An optical transmitter for coupling and wavelength-multiplexing optical signals with a different wavelength has 3 or more light sources for emitting parallel optical signals with a different wavelength, and 2 kinds of optical components with a different optical signal reflectance arranged in an optical path of each light source for coupling into one the optical signals emitted from the light sources respectively. The reflectance or transmittance of each of the 2 kinds of optical components is set so that each optical signal has the same optical signal power when reflected off or transmitted through the optical components for being coupled together and output from the optical transmitter.

Optical wavelength division multiplexing transmitter

A filter module, has an excellent high temperature and high humidity resistance. The filter module includes an optical filter assembly including multilayer filters and transparent members that is dropped into a bore formed in a metallic base. An adhesiveis injected into a space between an inner wall of the bore and side surfaces of the optical filter assembly such that the edges of bonding surfaces of the multilayer filters and the transparent members are completely covered.

Filter module, optical module and method for fabricating the same

A latching mechanism for latching a housing of an optical transceiver to be inserted through a window on a panel of a communication device into a cage provided in the communication device. The latching mechanism has: an opening formed on a side wall of the housing; an engaging member housed in the housing; a spring member being operable to push out the engaging member in its release state; a pulling member being operable to draw the engaging member in the housing by transforming the spring member toward the front end of the housing; and a movable sleeve being operable to move in a direction to leave the housing.

Latching mechanism and electronic module having same

An optical module has a convex lens interposed between a mirror and a light-emitting element array, and whose effective diameter is larger than the distance between the respective optical axes of mutually most-distant two light-emitting elements of the light-emitting element array. The convex lens causes incident optical signals from light-emitting elements of the light-emitting element array to respectively form parallel light, and causes their respective optical axes to cross each other on or adjacent to the surface of the mirror, to emit plural optical signals reflected off the mirror, and make the respective optical axes of the emitted optical signals parallel to each other to collect the parallel optical signals into monitoring light-receiving elements respectively.

Board assembly, optical transceiver using same and method for mounting same on object

An optical assembly structure includes, a semiconductor element generating a large amount of heat and a high impedance optical element which are to be mounted, with low optical loss on the same semiconductor substrate which has an optical waveguide formed thereon.The element generating a large amount of heat is mounted on a terrace of the semiconductor substrate directly or through an insulating layer having a thickness of submicron order, while the high impedance element is mounted in a groove which is etched into the semiconductor substrate to such an extent that the optical axis of the high impedance element mates with the optical axis of the optical waveguide layer formed on a recess in the semiconductor substrate. The optical axes can be adjusted independently for the respective elements. Alternatively, with a potential on the semiconductor substrate set equal to a supply voltage or a ground potential, a crystal substrate for a forward biased heat generating element is given the polarity opposite to that of a crystal substrate for a reverse biased element which may imply a problem of stray capacitance.
