An impact energy absorbing member includes an energy absorbing portion and an attachment portion. The attachment portion is fastened to the bumper reinforcement using a fastener, the fastener extending through the attachment portion and a wall of the bumper reinforcement and including an axis that extends in a direction intersecting an axial direction of the energy absorbing portion. The attachment portion and the energy absorbing portion are in a positional relationship in which the energy absorbing portion does not overlap the fastener when the impact energy absorbing member is viewed in a direction from the bumper reinforcement toward the energy absorbing portion in a vehicle front-rear direction.

Impact energy absorbing member

A fiber structure body includes a several fiber layers stacked in a stacking direction and has a multi-axial orientation that includes axial-force directional yarns, orthogonal directional yarns, and intersecting yarns. The fiber structure body includes a flat plate portion and a bend portion that is bent to the flat plate portion and includes a surface intersecting with a surface of the flat plate portion. The axial-force directional yarns are made of continuous fiber of reinforced fiber. Of yarns that form the bend portion and are other than the axial-force directional yarns, yarns that form at least one axis of the bend portion are provided by spun yarns made of discontinuous fiber.

A pressure vessel includes a liner including a cylindrical body and a dorm portion continuous with at least one end of the body in an axial direction and includes a reinforced fiber sheet covering an outer side of the liner and made of fabric. The reinforced fiber sheet includes first yarns arranged on the body and the dorm portion such that yarn main axes of the first yarns extend in the circumferential direction of the liner and second yarns arranged on the body and the dorm portion such that yarn main axes of the second yarns extend in the axial direction of the liner. A FRP tubular body includes a tubular fiber structure formed by winding a reinforced fiber sheet made of fabric. The reinforced fiber sheet includes first reinforced fiber bundles arranged such that a yarn main axis direction extends in a circumferential direction of the fiber structure and second reinforced fiber bundles arranged such that a yarn main axis direction extends in an axial direction of the fiber structure. The reinforced fiber sheet includes a starting end, a finishing end, and a general portion located between the starting end and the finishing end. The general portion includes the first reinforced fiber bundles and the second reinforced fiber bundles. At least one of the starting end or the finishing end is a decreased portion that is smaller than the general portion in an amount of reinforced fibers per unit length in the circumferential direction of the fiber structure.

A fiber structure that includes a liner, and a fiber reinforcement base material formed of a fabric. The fiber reinforcement base material externally covers a body portion and a dome-shaped portion of the liner, and includes first yarns and second yarns. The first yarns are arranged such that a direction in which a yarn main axis of each of the first yarns in the body portion and the dome-shaped portion proceeds is a circumferential direction of the liner. The second yarns are arranged such that a direction in which a yarn main axis of each of the second yarns in the body portion proceeds is an axial direction of the body portion and that a direction in which a yarn main axis of a portion of each of the second yarns arranged in the dome-shaped portion proceeds is an axial direction of the dome-shaped portion.

A multilayer fabric includes a binding portion in which weft fiber layers stacked in a thickness-wise direction are all bound by warps and a non-binding portion including a slit where a fifth fiber layer and a seventh fiber layer, which are the weft fiber layers, are not bound by warps. The multilayer fabric includes an intersection formed at a boundary of the binding portion and the non-binding portion. The intersection is formed by intersecting the warps that are adjacent in a second direction.

A fabric laminate used as a reinforcing base material of a fiber-reinforced composite is constituted by laminating fabrics having warp yarns and weft yarns. A fiber laminate W is configured by laminating first to fourth fiber layers. The fiber laminate is provided with a taper section, in which the thickness changes depending on the position in the longitudinal direction. The first to fourth fiber layers are formed by discontinuous fibers and are configured with the orientation angles of the discontinuous fibers aligned in one direction. The orientation angles of the discontinuous fibers in the first to fourth fiber layers are different. In addition, the first to fourth fiber layers are provided with thickness changing sections, in which the thickness changes continuously while the density of fibers is kept constant irrespective of the position in the longitudinal direction. The taper section is configured by stacking the thickness changing sections. The change amount of the thickness of each thickness changing section is the same irrespective of the position in the longitudinal direction.

An impact absorber absorbs impact energy when receiving an impact load. The impact absorber includes a fibrous structure. The fibrous structure includes a tube of which a center axis extends in a direction in which the impact load is applied and a rib that connects opposing inner surfaces of the tube. The fibrous structure is impregnated with a matrix resin. The direction in which the impact load is applied is referred to as an X direction, and a direction in which the rib connects the opposing inner surfaces of the tube is referred to as a Y direction. The tube includes a fiber layer including load direction yarns extending in the X direction and intersecting direction yarns intersecting the load direction yarns. The rib includes yarns extending only in a direction orthogonal to the X direction.

Impact-absorbing material and method for producing impact-absorbing material

A fiber-reinforced composite material has a fabric base material including laminated obliquely-crossed fabric layers, each of which is configured by weaving first and second reinforced fiber bundles, which obliquely cross each other. In adjacent two of the fabric layers, one of an orientation of the first reinforced fiber bundles and an orientation of the second reinforced fiber bundles in one fabric layer is the same as one of an orientation of the first reinforced fiber bundles and an orientation of the second reinforced fiber bundles of the other fabric layer. A three-dimensional fiber-reinforced composite includes a laminate having a plurality of fiber bundle layers that are layered in a lamination direction and include first and second outermost layers, a matrix resin; and a binding yarn. The binding yarn has first and second traverse yarn sections, and a surface-layer yarn section. The surface layer yarn section has bifurcated sections extending in opposite directions from the first and second traverse yarn sections on the surface of the second outermost layer. An additive and the matrix resin are arranged in a space enclosed by the bifurcated sections and the fiber bundles of the second outermost layer adjacent to the bifurcated sections, and also in a space between each of the first and second traverse yarn sections and fiber bundles adjacent thereto, and in a space between the first and second traverse yarn sections.
