An image forming apparatus includes an image former to form an image on a sheet based on an image forming condition for adjusting a position of the image on the sheet, a heater to fix the image on the sheet, and an image reader to read the image on the sheet, the image reader being arranged downstream from the heater in a conveyance direction in which the sheet is conveyed. A processor controls the image former to form an image including a mark on a sheet, controls the image reader to read the mark, generates the image forming condition based on a reading result of the mark by the image reader, and controls to determine, in a case where a second image including the mark is formed by the image former after the first image including the mark is formed by the image former, whether to form a chart including the mark on the sheet before the second image is formed based on an elapsed time after forming the first image.

Image forming apparatus having image position adjustment

An image forming apparatus includes a printing apparatus and controls, when an interrupt print job to be processed by interrupting image formation based on a print job is requested, the printing apparatus to form an image corresponding to the interrupt print job by interrupting processing based on the print job. The printing apparatus is controlled to create a first predetermined number of charts for adjustment obtained by forming the image for adjustment on the sheet before the processing is returned to the print job after end of processing based on the interrupt print job, and adjust the image forming condition based on a result of reading the image for adjustment of the first predetermined number of charts for adjustment by the image sensor before the processing is returned to the print job.

Image forming apparatus

An image forming apparatus includes a plurality of parts each configured to operate to form an image; and at least one processor configured to control an operation of the image forming apparatus. The at least one processor has a function of executing the following processing: error detection processing of detecting occurrence of an error of each part; failure portion identification processing of identifying a failure portion which is a cause of the error; and determination processing of determining, in a case where the image forming apparatus is reactivated after the identification of the failure portion by the failure portion identification processing, whether there is a failure in a part corresponding to the failure portion information before execution of a preparation operation for enabling an image forming operation.
