Provided are an image recording method including: subjecting a recording substrate to a surface treatment by irradiating an image recording surface of the recording substrate with light from excimer emission using a xenon gas, the recording substrate being an aggregate of non-absorbent or low-absorbent fiber materials; and applying an ink composition by an ink jet method onto the image recording surface of the recording substrate after the surface treatment; and an image recorded article.

The aqueous ink composition includes a pigment, a graft polymer including an anionic group at a side chain thereof, and an aqueous medium. The infrared laser-compatible positive-type image recording materials according to the present invention include a support and a photo/thermosensitive layer formed on the support; and the photo/thermosensitive layer contains an alkali-soluble resin (A), a photothermal converting substance (B) and an ester compound (C) represented by the following General Formula (I), and increases solubility thereof to an alkaline developer as a result exposure to an infrared laser. In the following formula, Rrepresents a hydrocarbon group having a pKa of ROH in a range of 3 to 10; and Rrepresents a hydrocarbon group or a substituted carbonyl group. The invention provides image recording materials compatible with high-output lasers that enable highly-sensitive direct plate making by using digital data from a computer or the like, and provide images excellent in development latitude, contrast, and resolution

A lithographic printing process which comprises the steps of: imagewise exposing to infrared light a presensitized lithographic plate which comprises a hydrophilic support and a removable image-forming layer containing an infrared absorbing agent having the absorption maximum within an infrared region and a dye precursor having substantially no absorption within a visible region to change the dye precursor to a visible dye having an absorption within a visible region within the exposed area, and to make the image-forming layer irremovable within the exposed area; removing the image-forming layer within the unexposed area of the lithographic plate mounted on a cylinder of a printing press; and then printing an image with the lithographic plate mounted on the cylinder of the printing press. The other processes are also disclosed.

A polymerizable composition comprising; a dendrimer having at least two polymerizable groups within a molecule; a radical initiator; and an alkali-soluble polymer, and an image recording material comprising a support and a recording layer comprising a polymerizable composition containing a dendrimer having at least two polymerizable groups within a molecule, a radical initiator and an alkali-soluble polymer.
