A printing apparatus includes a printhead on a movable carriage; an operating unit operating by a driving force of a driving source; a transmitting unit being displaced by the driving force between a position where the transmitting unit transmits the driving force to the operating unit and a non-transmitting position; a movable member arranged on a moving path of the carriage; a restricting member being displaced, in coordination with a displacement of the movable member, between a position where the displacement of the transmitting unit is restricted and a non-restricting position; and a selecting member provided between the movable member and the restricting member. The selecting member is displaced between a position where the movable member and the restricting member are coordinated with each other by the selecting member and a non-coordinating position.

Printing apparatus

A feeding device includes a feed roller configured to feed stacked sheets, a first transmission unit configured to transmit driving force to the feed roller, a separating member configured to separate a sheet having been fed by the feed roller from the other sheets, a moving unit configured to move the separating member to a separating position where the separating member is in contact with the sheet to separate the sheet and a retracting position where the separating member does not separate the sheet, a second transmission unit configured to transmit driving force to the moving unit to work the moving unit, and a transmission unit configured to simultaneously transmit driving force of a drive source to the first transmission unit and the second transmission unit.

Feeding device and recording apparatus

A recording apparatus includes a recording unit configured to record an image on a recording medium; a roller pair for conveying the recording medium or a tray with the recording medium mounted thereon, a cover covering an opening for replacing a component of the recording unit, a guide member supported by the cover and overlapping at least a part of the cover when in a closed state and capable of guiding the tray to an insertion port of the tray when in an open state, and a release member configured to, in conjunction with the opening of the guide member, to cause the roller pair to be separated, wherein if the cover is opened along with the tray, the release member does not cause the roller pair to be separated.

Recording apparatus

An image reading apparatus configured to read a document positioned on a document positioning plate includes an apparatus body, the document positioning plate mounted on the apparatus body, a document cover configured to press the document against the document positioning plate, a hinge member attached to the document cover and rotatably attached to the apparatus body, and a switch member engaging with the hinge member and configured to restrict a rotation angle of the hinge member. The switch member is located on a same side as a side of the document positioning plate of the apparatus body and is configured to restrict, at a first position thereof, the rotation angle to a first open angle and to release, at a second position thereof, the rotation angle from being restricted to the first open angle.

Image reading apparatus for reading a document positioned on a plate

There is provided an image reading apparatus that can read a plurality of images without troublesome operations by a user, in which a small-size light source with a small electric power consumption is used as an illumination light source used for reading an image of a transparent original. A surface illumination light source having a size large enough to illuminate one image among a plurality of images included in a transparent original is moved sequentially to positions at which the illumination light source can illuminate the respective images. Each image is read while the illumination light source is kept stationary at the position of the image. In addition, at the position of each image, the transparent original is pressed against an original table of the image reading apparatus.

Surface illumination unit and transparent original reading apparatus

In an image reading apparatus for reading a transparent original, the object of the present invention is to obtain a high-quality read image from which dust or scratch is removed. In order to achieve this object, in the image reading apparatus for reading the transparent original, a transparent original illumination unit has the first and second surfaces on the same side. On the first surface, at least one light source for emitting light in at least a visible range is arranged. On the second surface, at least one light source including a plurality of infrared light sources arrayed in series to emit light in an infrared range is arranged. The first and second surfaces are arranged at positions different from an effective light-emitting region, and includes a light guide plate and reflecting sheet for substantially uniformly emitting incident light from the same side portion to an entire surface.
