A grease composition includes a base oil, a thickener, and an additive. The base oil contains a synthetic oil. The thickener contains a compound having a urea group. The additive contains a phosphoric compound, a calcium-based compound, and a hydrocarbon-based wax. A hub unit includes the grease composition enclosed therein.

Grease composition and hub unit

A speed reducer for an electric power steering system includes a worm, a worm wheel, and a housing. Only a meshing section where the worm and the worm wheel mesh with each other and a space between the worm wheel and the housing are filled with grease. The grease in the space is in contact with both tooth surfaces of the worm wheel and an inner peripheral face of the housing, the inner peripheral face facing the worm wheel.

Speed reducer and electric power steering system

A lubricant composition, which is low in friction, does not have an attacking property against polyamide resin, etc., is excellent in heat resistance, and especially does not undergo deterioration or loss of the respective characteristics in a short term when used under a high temperature environment, is provided along with a speed reduction gear and an electric power steering apparatus that use the lubricant composition. The lubricant composition has blended therein a synthetic hydrocarbon oil, a urea thickener, zinc stearate, and a sulfur-based antioxidant. A speed reduction gear has a portion of engagement of a small gear and a large gear filled with the lubricant composition. In an electric power steering apparatus, an output of a steering assisting electric motor is speed reduced and transmitted to a steering mechanism via the speed reduction gear.

A turbocharger includes a turbine wheel having a center hole and a turbine shaft having one end secured on a small-diameter inner circumferential surface of the center hole. A large-diameter inner circumferential surface and a large diameter outer circumferential surface are formed to provide a cylindrical clearance opening toward a bearing housing between the center hole and the outer circumferential surface of the turbine shaft.

Turbocharger

A turbocharger includes a housing, and a turbine shaft supported in a center hole in the housing through rolling bearings. A tank portion for storing lubrication oil is formed in the housing, and the lubricating oil is supplied from the tank portion to the rolling bearings through wick members extending from the tank portion respectively to the rolling bearings. The wick member includes a bundle of fibers made of a plastics material, and a distal end portion thereof is separated into a fibrous condition, and this distal end portion is held in contact with the bearing. The lubricating oil is supplied to the bearing by a capillary action of the wick member.

A solid lubricating composition having resin material is disposed between an outer ring and an inner ring of a ball bearing. As the resin material contained in the solid lubricating composition, resin material having a property of being solidified when the resin material in a fluid state is irradiated with an ultraviolet beam is used.

Rolling device and rolling device manufacturing method

A film composed of grease, or a film composed of a thickener for grease, is formed on a portion of the surface of each of components constituting a bearing, the portion being opposed to a polymeric lubricant, whereby sliding frictional resistance between the bearing components and the polymeric lubricant is reduced. In the formation of the film, the assembled bearing in which the film has not yet been formed is immersed into a liquid which is obtained by diluting the grease or the thickener for grease with a solvent, and the solvent is then dried, thereby to highly reproducibly form the film of uniform thickness. In an assembled double-row self-aligning roller bearing wherein an outer race is swingable in a direction perpendicular to the center axis of the bearing, raw materials of a polymeric lubricant are poured into and solidified in two regions of an annular space between the inner and outer races.

Polymeric lubricant packed bearing and method of producing the same

A rolling bearing has a pair of races, rolling elements and a cage. A region defined between the pair of races is filled with a solid lubricating composition. A film including a lubricating component is formed in a clearance between the cage and the rolling elements, whereby the solid lubricating composition is prevented from being interposed therebetween. The film including a lubricating component is formed prior to the process of filling the region with the lubricating composition to solidify the lubricating composition. It is preferable that the film including a lubricating component is formed on the respective surfaces in contact with the solid lubricating composition of the races, the rolling elements and the cage.
