An energy boost circuit adapted to provide power to a load is described. The circuit includes a pair of thermoelectric generators (TEGs) for converting thermal energy from a heat source into electrical energy; a pair of capacitor banks arranged in parallel, each coupled to one of the TEGs for storing the electrical energy generated by the TEG; a power converter; a first switching element coupled between a first capacitor bank in the pair of capacitor banks and the power converter; a second switching element coupled between a second capacitor bank in the pair of capacitor banks and the power converter; and a monitor/controller coupled to the first and second switching elements and adapted to selectively switch the switching elements in order to provide a power boost to the load, where the monitor/controller automatically switches the switching elements based at least partly on charge levels measured at the capacitor banks.

Power assist using ambient heat

A circuit which extends the operational life of a main power source, said circuit comprising a pair of thermoelectric generators (TEGs) for converting thermal energy from a heat source into electrical energy; a pair of capacitors arranged in parallel, each coupled to one of the TEGs for storing the electrical energy generated by said TEG; a power converter; a first switching element coupled between a first capacitor in the pair of capacitors and the power converter; a second switching element coupled between a second capacitor in the pair of capacitors and the power converter; and a monitor/controller coupled to said first and second switching elements and each of said capacitors for selectively and alternatively switching the first and second switching elements in order to selectively provide power from one of the capacitors to a load, thereby reducing the amount of power drawn from the main power source.

System and method for efficient power utilization and extension of battery life

An integrated tuner is programmable to optimize its components for either analog signal reception or digital signal reception. Power to the components is increased for analog operation and decreased for digital operation. The tuner also includes a selectable and integrated low noise amplifier that may be selected for single-signal reception and bypassed for multi-signal reception.

Integrated programmable tuner

A circuit which extends the operational life of a main energy source coupled to a load, said circuit comprising a power generator having a heat source and a cooler thermally coupled to a thermoelectric generator (TEG) for converting thermal energy into electrical energy; and a first capacitor coupled to the TEG for receiving and storing the electrical energy from the TEG. The circuit further comprising at least one switching element coupled between the first capacitor and the load, a converter coupled between the capacitor and the at least one switching element for generating a regulated output, and a controller for activating the at least one switching element when the charge stored on the first capacitor reaches a predetermined level, thereby delivering power from the first capacitor to the load, via the converter, and reducing the amount of power drawn from the main energy source, thereby extending the operational life of the main energy source.

An active splitter is disclosed for splitting an input signal into a plurality of split output signals. The active splitter may include a plurality of active circuits connected in parallel that produce the plurality of split output signals from the received input signal, where each active circuit of the plurality of active circuits produces a corresponding split output signal from the plurality of split output signals that is substantially similar to the received input signal.
