A housing case for a fusion splicer is a housing case for housing the fusion splicer for an optical fiber. The housing case for a fusion splicer includes a case main body including a first side wall, and a lid body attached to the case main body to be openable and closable. The lid body includes a second side wall configured to match the first side wall when closed. At least one of the first side wall and the second side wall includes an insertion portion configured for a cable extending from the inside of the housing case to the outside thereof to be inserted through the insertion portion in a state where the lid body is closed with respect to the case main body.

An optical fiber fusion splicing method for performing fusion splicing through positioning of optical fibers to be spliced in a V-groove is provided. The optical fiber fusion splicing method includes pressing the optical fibers placed in the V-groove relatively toward the V-groove using a clamp, varying a clamp pressure of the clamp pressing the optical fibers, and moving the optical fibers placed in the V-groove with respect to the V-groove in an axial direction.

An optical fiber holder for holding an optical fiber includes a holder body part on which a first optical fiber and a second optical fiber having a different outer diameter are mountable, a lid body which is disposed to the holder body part, and a fiber posture correction block which is provided on the lid body on a side close to a terminal processing part of the first optical fiber and the second optical fiber. The holder body part includes a first regulating part at an end part thereof on a terminal processing part side, and the first regulating part regulates movement of a first glass fiber of the first optical fiber and a second glass fiber of the second optical fiber. The fiber posture correction block includes a contact part to contact the second optical fiber at an end part thereof on the terminal processing part side.

A reinforcing apparatus for reinforcing a fusion-splicing part between optical fibers includes a main body part, a heater that heats a heat-shrinkable tube covering the fusion-splicing part, and a pair of clamp parts that are provided at opposite sides of the heater and respectively hold an optical fiber or an optical connector. The pair of the clamp parts respectively include a storage part that stores the optical fiber or the optical connector, and a clamper that is rotatably supported in the main body part and can be disposed in an open state where an upper portion of the storage part is opened and in a closed state where the optical fiber or the optical connector stored in the storage part is sandwiched. A clamp part of at least one part of the pair of clamp parts includes a sliding part that is slidably mounted on a storage part.

An optical fiber fusion splicer disclosed. The optical fiber fusion splicer includes: a first microscope configured to observe first and second optical fibers from a first direction by receiving light emitted from a first light source; a second microscope configured to observe the first and second optical fibers from a second direction by receiving light emitted from a second light source, the second direction crossing the first direction; a fusion splicing mechanism configured to fusion-splice an end portion of the first optical fiber and an end portion of the second optical fiber; and a control unit configured to control the fusion splicing mechanism. The first microscope is movable in the first direction. The second microscope is secured to not move in the second direction.
