An installation assist apparatus according to an embodiment of the present disclosure includes hardware processor configured to: receive an input of installation positions of first and second optical wireless communication devices performing optical wireless communication and an input of an angle of elevation representing an inclination of an optical axis center line to a horizontal line, the optical axis center line connecting the first and second optical wireless communication devices; determine whether each of the first and second optical wireless communication devices is affected by solar light, the determination being carried out based on the installation positions of the devices, the angle of elevation, an influence angle representing a maximum value of an incident angle of solar light affecting the devices, and solar positions through a whole year; and cause a display device to display a result of the determination.

A method and apparatus is capable of recording optical information at high speed without using a high power laser beam. An intensity of a laser beam required in forming a land during recording optical information on an optical information recording medium is set to have a larger value for a greater linear velocity between a light source and the optical information recording medium such as an optical disc. As a result, a potion of the optical information recording medium in which a pit is to be formed can be sufficiently preheated even at the greater linear velocity, so that the pit can be formed without increasing an intensity of the laser beam required in forming pits.

Method and apparatus for recording optical information

An inclination, at a pit forming position, of the information recording surface of an optical disc with respect to a plane that is perpendicular to laser light emitted from an optical pickup is detected by a tilt sensor. Pits are formed while the laser light intensity is increased as the detected inclination increases. The illumination light quantity per unit area decreases as the inclination of the information recording surface increases. Setting the laser light intensity at a larger value as the inclination of the information recording surface increases makes it possible to compensate for reduction of the illumination light quantity per unit area that occurs in association with inclination of the information recording surface without the need for correcting the laser light emitting direction. Therefore, even if the information recording surface of an optical information recording medium is inclined, information recording can be performed with a constant laser light emitting direction.
