Provided is a structure for improving accuracy in attaching a cutting tool to a body and making it possible to increase the number of blades while the cutting tool is mounted on the body. A cutting insertincludes: an upper surfacethat has a shape with a lengthwise direction LD and a widthwise direction SD; a lower surface that is located opposite to the upper surface; a peripheral side surfacethat is formed so as to connect the upper surfaceand the lower surface; cutting edgesandthat are respectively formed on an intersecting ridge line of the upper surfaceand the peripheral side surface, and on an intersecting ridge line of the lower surface and the peripheral side surface, and each have a curved ridge line that extends in a lengthwise direction thereof; and a through holethat penetrates from the upper surfaceto the lower surface. End surfacesandlocated in the lengthwise direction LD of the upper surfaceand the lower surface, of the peripheral side surface, are respectively inclined with respect to the upper surfaceand the lower surface, and are parallel to each other. A reference surfacethat is located opposite to the cutting edgesand, of the peripheral side surface, is a flat surface that is orthogonal to the upper surfaceand the lower surface.

Cutting insert, indexable rotary cutting tool, and body of the same

A cutting insert that suppresses softening of joint material in a joint surface between a sintered body and a base body to improve the joint strength, and that enables size reduction of the sintered body, is provided. The cutting insert includes a sintered body having a cutting edge, and a base body having a leading end where the sintered body is joined via a braze material. The sintered body includes a front surface on a leading side, an upper surface connected to the front surface and forming the cutting edge with the front surface along a connecting edge with the front surface, a bottom surface opposite the upper surface, a back surface opposite the front surface, and two side surfaces. The sintered body and base body are joined together in a joint surface including the bottom surface and back surface of the sintered body. The joint surface in side view has a step-like shape with a leading side thereof being lower than a trailing side thereof.

Cutting insert

A tool body in which a cutting insert can be replaced easily is provided. The tool body which fixes the indexable cutting insert includes an insert mounting seat which is provided on a first surface of the tool body, a clamp member which binds the cutting insert placed on the insert mounting seat, and an operating member which operates the clamp member. The operating member can lower the clamp member from the first surface toward a second surface of the tool body on an opposite side thereof to the first surface and can raise the clamp member from the second surface toward the first surface. The clamp member has a hook portion which is brought into contact with a diameter reducing portion formed on an inner peripheral surface of a mounting hole of the cutting insert in a state where the clamp member is lowered.

Tool body

A tool body to which a replaceable cutting insert is fixed includes: a holder: an insert mounting seat that is provided on a first surface of the holder; a clamp member that constrains the cutting insert placed on the insert mounting seat; and an operating member that presses a pressure receiving surface of the clamp member. The clamp member has the pressure receiving surface, a spherical head portion that is formed into a spherical crown shape, and a hook portion that protrudes to a side opposite to a side of the spherical head portion when seen from a side of the first surface. The insert mounting seat supports the clamp member to be swingable with the spherical head portion as a fulcrum, and the hook portion contacts a diameter reducing portion that is formed on an inner peripheral surface of an mounting hole for the cutting insert in a state in which the pressure receiving surface is pressed.

A cutting tool body for indexable inserts, and a round milling insert, are configured not to cause floating or rattling upon mounting the milling insert. The tool body includes a recessed portion for fitting one of a plurality of protrusions thereto, the protrusions being formed in the milling insert to protrude in the radial direction. The recessed portion has two inner surfaces having curved portions disposed so the distance between them gradually decreases at the contact area between the recessed portion and the protrusion fitted thereto. The milling insert includes protrusions protruding radially, any of which fit into a recessed portion on a mounting seat of the tool body. The protrusions each have two curved outer surfaces arranged so the distance between them gradually decreases toward a tip of the protrusion, at the contact area between the protrusion and the recessed portion into which the protrusion is fitted.

Tool body of cutting tool for indexable inserts, and round milling insert

A cutting insert has a cutting edge formed on part of an intersecting ridge line portion of an upper face or a lower face and a side face. The cutting edge includes a major cutting edge, a minor cutting edge, and a connecting cutting edge that connects the major cutting edge and the minor cutting edge. A minor cutting edge flank that is part of the side face and that corresponds to the minor cutting edge includes a first minor cutting edge flank that connects to the minor cutting edge and that has a clearance angle of 0&#xb0;, and a second minor cutting edge flank that connects to the first minor cutting edge flank and that has a clearance angle of a negative value. A connecting cutting edge flank that is part of the side face and that corresponds to the connecting cutting edge includes a first connecting cutting edge flank that connects to the connecting cutting edge and that has a clearance angle of 0&#xb0; or greater, and a second connecting cutting edge flank that connects to the first connecting cutting edge flank and has a clearance angle that is greater than the clearance angle of the first connecting cutting edge flank.

Cutting insert and cutting tool

A cutting insert is provided, which can be prevented from being lifted from a tool body. A cutting insert includes two end surfaces opposed to each other, a peripheral side surface extending between the two end surfaces, a cutting edge provided at an intersecting edge between at least one of the two end surfaces and the peripheral side surface, and a fixing hole provided in an end surface direction from the first end surface to the second end surface. The peripheral side surface is provided with raised parts changing in height in the end surface direction.

A cutting tool replacement member including: a lower surface which serves as a seating surface; an upper surface opposed to the lower surface; and a side surface connected to the upper surface and the lower surface. In a top view, the upper surface includes, in an intersection between the upper surface and the side surface, a reference side edge and an inclined side edge inclined relative to the reference side edge. The side surface includes a first side surface part connected to the reference side edge of the upper surface, and a second side surface part connected to the inclined side edge of the upper surface. At least one of the first side surface part and the second side surface part is provided with an overhanging part that, in a top view, protrudes outwardly with respect to the reference side edge or the inclined side edge.

Cutting tool replacement member and cutting tool body

A tool body having an insert seat and a cutting tool which allow a cutting insert to be stably held are provided. A tool body according to the present invention is a tool body having an insert seat for mounting a cutting insert on the tool body, wherein the insert seat has a base surface and a side wall surface which extends so as to intersect with the base surface. The base surface has a contact surface and a contact projected part which come into contact with the cutting insert. A contact part of the contact surface is comprised of a surface, and a contact part of the contact projected part has a linear shape or a point shape.

Tool body and cutting tool

A cutting insert which is suitable for high cutting speed, a tool body thereof and a tool are provided. A tool according to the present invention is a tool in which a leading end thereof is provided with a force transmitting portion and for which a rotational axis extending from the leading end to a base end thereof is defined, wherein the tool comprises a cam portion which is arranged closer to the base end than the force transmitting portion and for which a dimension from the rotational axis of the tool varies in accordance with an angle at which the cam portion is rotated around the rotational axis.

A cutting insert has first and second end surfaces, a peripheral side surface, a reference central axis A perpendicular to and passing through the two surfaces, and a cutting edge having at least one circular-arc-shaped cutting edge. A contact surface portion is formed in the second end surface. The arc-shaped cutting edge is part of virtual circle having a center E which is spaced apart from the central axis A. A longitudinal plane B includes the central axis A and the center E; a median plane C perpendicular to the central axis A passes midway between the two end surfaces; and a virtual plane D perpendicular to both the longitudinal plane B and the median plane C, intersects the circular-arc-shaped cutting edge and traverses the contact surface portion. In a cross-section along the virtual plane D, the contact surface portion is inclined relative to the median plane C.

Cutting insert having arc-shaped cutting edges and inclined seating surfaces, tool body and cutting tool

A cutting insert has a first (top) end surface, a second (bottom) end surface, a peripheral side surface connecting the top and bottom end surfaces, and a mounting hole having a central axis O which penetrates the top and bottom end surfaces. Cutting edges are formed on an intersecting edge between the first end surface and the peripheral side surface. The second end surface has an inclined part. When a virtual plane substantially perpendicular to the axis O and passing through any point of the cutting edges is defined, the inclined part is inclined so as to be more distant from the virtual plane, heading from the peripheral side surface to the axis O. A projected part projected in a direction along the axis O is formed in an area around the mounting hole in the inclined part. This reinforces the strength of the mounting hole.

Cutting insert having bottom surface with inclined parts and indexable rotary cutting tool

A cutting insert including a first end surface, a second end surface and a peripheral side surface extending therebetween. The first and second end surfaces each having one substantially quadrangular portion and two substantially semicircular portions which are respectively joined to two opposing sides of the substantially quadrangular portion. An intersecting edge between each of the first and second end surfaces and the peripheral side surface is provided with a cutting edge. The cutting edge is formed in at least part of the substantially semicircular portion. At least part of a portion of the peripheral side surface which is adjacent to the substantially quadrangular portion of each of the first and second end surfaces, and at least part of a portion of the peripheral side surface which is adjacent to the substantially semicircular portion, each have a function of coming into contact with an insert seat.
