A method of manufacturing a high-gain, high-frequency device, such as a phased-array antenna, which uses such a switch having movable parts as a micromachine switch. The high-frequency device comprises a dielectric substrate on which are formed a plurality of waveguides for carrying high-frequency signals, a phase control layer, and dielectric spacers arranged between the phase control layer and another layer to provide space in which a switch formed in the phase control layer is enclosed.

High-frequency device using switch having movable parts, and method of manufacture thereof

A relatively small phased array antenna is formed at a low cost even if the number of radiating elements increases in order to improve the gain. The phased array antenna has a multilayered structure in which a number of radiating elements ( ), a phase shift unit ( ) for changing the phase of an RF signal transmitted/received at each radiating element, and a distribution/synthesis unit ( ) are formed on different layers. Signal lines (X Xm) and scanning lines (Y Yn) are wired on a phase control layer ( ) to connect phase shift units to each other in a matrix. The signal lines and the scanning lines are matrix-driven by selection units ( X, Y) so that desired phase shift amounts are set to phase shift units located at the intersections of the signal and scanning lines. In addition, switches ( S) of a phase shifter ( ) are formed at once on the phase control layer.

The phased array antenna has a multilayer structure including layers where a large number of radiators ( ), phase-shifting units ( ) each for shifting the phase of a high-frequency signal transmitted/received by the corresponding radiator, and a distributing/synthesizing unit ( ) are provided respectively. The phase-shifting circuits ( A to D) constituting the phase-shifting units ( ) are driven by the respective driver units ( ). A switch ( S) used for the phase-shifting unit is provided together with the other wiring pattern on the layer where the phase-shifting units ( ) are provided.

Phased array antenna and method of manufacturing method

The object of the present invention is to provide an antenna for communicating with a low earth orbit (LEO) satellite which is small-sized and light and can track a LEO satellite at high speed at a small-sized earth station using a LEO satellite. The antenna according to the present invention uses two offset parabolic antenna-type reflectors and each primary feed is installed in the focal position of a paraboloid forming the reflector. The quantity of an offset of the offset parabolic antenna is selected so that antenna gain is maximum at the minimum operational elevation angle. Each primary feed is mechanically independent of the mobile reflector, is attached and fixed to a feed line. In the meantime, each reflector is turned based upon an azimuth axis and an elevation axis according to Az-EL mounting.

Antenna for communicating with low earth orbit satellite

A multibeam antenna capable of communicating with a plurality of satellites on stationary orbits at the same time includes a single main reflector, and a plurality of primary radiators for radiating electromagnetic waves toward the main reflector. The main reflector is constituted by the same number of partial reflectors as the primary radiators, the partial reflectors being joined to each other. Each of the partial reflectors is defined by a part of a different one of paraboloids which are different in the position of focus from each other. The primary reflectors are located at the positions of individual focuses. A subreflector is disposed between the main reflector and the positions of focuses and made up of a plurality of curved portions and a single flat portion.

Multibeam antenna

In a dual-band antenna of the beam wave-guide type, first and second electromagnetic waves from first and second feed horns, respectively, are directly provided to a frequency selective reflector along different axes, with both electromagnetic waves being provided from the frequency selective reflector along the same axis. The two electromagnetic waves are then reflected in common by first and second concave mirrors and then provided substantially along an axis coincident with the azimuth axis to the remainder of the beam wave-guide section which is itself rotatable about the azimuth axis.

Dual-band antenna system of a beam waveguide type

An antenna having a frequency separator of the type comprising plural lattice structures of a periodic conductive pattern. Each lattice structure exhibits an inherent resonance frequency and an inductance-capacitance effect at frequencies below the inherent resonance frequency. The periodic conductive patterns are selected so that each of the lattice structures exhibits substantially the same inherent resonance frequency, and when placed at selected intervals, the plurality of lattice structures exhibit interactive resonance at frequencies below the inherent resonance frequencies. Each lattice also exhibits substantially equal inductance and capacitance with respect to obliquely incident electromagnetic waves in the TE and TM modes.
