Rollover judgment apparatus

A vehicle speed calculating section calculates the vehicle velocity by integration of a forward and reverse acceleration of a vehicle. A first deforming speed calculating section calculates a first deforming speed by integration of acceleration from a first acceleration sensor. A second deforming speed calculating section calculates a second deforming speed by integration of acceleration from a second acceleration sensor. A first deforming speed correcting section subtracts a vehicle speed from the first deforming speed and outputs it to a determining section. A second deforming speed correcting section subtracts the vehicle speed from the second deforming speed and outputs it to the determining section. In the determining section, the collision object determination is made on the basis of the corrected deforming speed.

A rollover determination apparatus for vehicles includes a roll-angular-velocity sensor () for detecting, as a roll angular velocity, the rotational angular velocity of a vehicle about a longitudinal axis extending lengthwise through the vehicle, an upward-or-downward-acceleration sensor () for detecting, as an upward or downward acceleration, an acceleration in an upward or downward direction of the vehicle, an arithmetic processing unit () for carrying out arithmetic processing on both the roll angular velocity detected by the roll-angular-velocity sensor () and the upward or downward acceleration detected by the upward-or-downward-acceleration sensor (), and a rollover occurrence determining unit () for determining whether the vehicle will roll over based on a processing result of the arithmetic processing unit ().
