Provided is a coated cutting tool, which includes a hard coating film containing a layer (b) formed of a nitride or a carbonitride, a layer (c) which is a layered coating film formed by alternately layering a nitride or carbonitride layer (c1) that contains 55 atom % or more and 75 atom % or less of Al, Cr having a second highest content percentage, and at least Si and a nitride or carbonitride layer (c2) that contains 55 atom % or more and 75 atom % or less of Al and Ti having a second highest content, and a layer (d) that is a nitride or carbonitride that contains, with respect to a total amount of metal elements (including metalloid elements), 55 atom % or more and 75 atom % or less of Al and Ti having a second highest content percentage, the content percentage of Ti being 20 atom % or more.

Coated cutting tool

Provided is a coated cutting tool having a base material side single layer portion and a laminated portion provided as a hard coating in order from a base material side. The base material side single layer portion is formed of a nitride-based hard coating in which a proportion of Al is highest among metal (including metalloid) elements, a sum of Al and Cr in a content ratio (atomic ratio) is 0.9 or more, and at least B is contained. In the laminated portion, a nitride-based a layer in which a proportion of Ti is highest among metal (including metalloid) elements and at least B is contained, and a nitride-based b layer in which a proportion of Al is highest among metal (including metalloid) elements and at least Cr and B are contained are alternately laminated.

Coated cutting tool and production method therefor

An arc-ion-plated hard coating having a composition represented by (AlTiW)NO, wherein x, y, z, a and b are numbers meeting by atomic ratio 0.6&#x2264;x&#x2264;0.8, 0.05&#x2264;y&#x2264;0.38, 0.02&#x2264;z&#x2264;0.2, x+y+z=1, 0.2&#x2264;a&#x2264;0.8, and 0.02&#x2264;b&#x2264;0.10), and having W&#x2014;O bonds with substantially no Al&#x2014;O bonds when identified by X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy, and having only a NaCl-type structure in an X-ray diffraction pattern.
