A heat exchanger includes left and right header tanks disposed in parallel; top and bottom side plates that couple respectively both ends of the pair of the header tanks; a first plurality of tubes connected between the pair of the header tanks at both ends that are disposed in a region nearer the bottom side plate as a condenser; and a second plurality of tubes that are disposed in a region nearer the top side plate as an oil cooler. Each tube in the second tubes has a cross-sectional shape identical to that of each tube in the first tubes and the top side plate is formed to have a squared U-shaped cross section so that a return pipe communicating with the second tubes can be disposed along a groove having the squared U-shaped cross section of the top side plate.

A heat exchanger that can prevent damage to joints of tubes and side plates at core plates and is easy to produce which has side plates enabling stable brazing of the tubes and fins with the side plates, that is, a heat exchanger provided with a plurality of tubes through a heat exchange medium passes, a plurality of fins alternately stacked with the tubes and increasing the heat transfer of the heat exchange medium, core plates to which the two ends of the tubes are connected, and side plates arranged at the outsides in the stacking direction from the end fins arranged at the outermost sides in the stacking direction of the fins and connected to the core plates, wherein at least one of the side plates has a plurality of bridge portions at intermediate locations in the longitudinal direction, and at least one location of the bridge portions has a slit provided by cutting after the brazing of the tubes and the fins.

A heat exchanger module includes a condenser for condensing a refrigerant, a modulator, a sub-cooler for cooling liquid refrigerant supplied from the modulator, and a heat exchanger for cooling a fluid different from the refrigerant. The condenser, the sub-cooler and the heat exchanger are arranged in an arrangement direction substantially perpendicular to an air flow direction. Further, the modulator is disposed to extend in the arrangement direction. In the heat exchanger module, the modulator has a dimension that is larger than the sum of a dimension of the condenser and a dimension of the sub-cooler, and is not larger than the sum of the dimension of the condenser, the dimension of the sub-cooler and a dimension of the heat exchanger, in the arrangement direction. Accordingly, a capacity of the modulator can be effectively increased without increasing a largest outer side of the heat exchanger module.

Even in the case where an additional heat exchanger must be arranged at the downstream side in the air flow direction of a multiple heat exchanger, a high flow-rate of air can be supplied to the additional heat exchanger arranged at the downstream side. In a state in which a reinforcement plateof an outdoor heat exchangerand a reinforcement plateof a first radiatorcome next to and overlap each other in series in the cooling air flow direction, both the reinforcement platesandare joined with a bolt. Due to this, a distance h between a first heat exchange coreand a second heat exchange coreis reduced. Therefore, air for cooling can be supplied, at a high flow-rate, to a second radiatorarranged at the downstream side.

Heat exchanger of a multiple type

A tube inside passage height (Tr) is set within a range of 0.35&#x2013;0.8 mm. Thereby, sum of radiation performance reduction due to pressure loss inside tube and radiation performance reduction due to air flow resistance is reduced, thereby attaining high radiation performance. Especially, when the tube inside passage height (Tr) is set within a range of 0.5&#x2013;0.7 mm, the radiation performance is further improved.

Refrigerant condenser used for automotive air conditioner

In a condenser of a refrigerant cycle, a throttle portion is provided at a predetermined position in one of first and second header tanks to decompress refrigerant while refrigerant meanderingly flows within the one of the first and second header tanks. Therefore, refrigerant from the throttle portion is sufficiently mixed with refrigerant directly flowing from tubes into a downstream space of the throttle portion in the one of the first and second header tanks. Accordingly, even when gas refrigerant is directly introduced from a part of the tubes directly into the lower downstream space, the gas refrigerant can be effectively heat-exchanged with the refrigerant flowing from the throttle portion. As a result, it can restrict refrigerant from being discharged from the condenser in a gas-liquid two-phase state.

A tube inside passage height (Tr) is set within a range of 0.35-0.8 mm. Thereby, sum of radiation performance reduction due to pressure loss inside tube and radiation performance reduction due to air flow resistance is reduced, thereby attaining high radiation performance. Especially, when the tube inside passage height (Tr) is set within a range of 0.5-0.7 mm, the radiation performance is further improved.

A heat exchanger such as a condenser for use in an automotive air-conditioner includes a core unit having a plurality of laminated tubes and fins. Brackets for mounting the heat exchanger on a vehicle are connected to U-shaped side plate disposed on an outside of the core unit. After components constituting the core unit including the side plate are all connected to one another by brazing, the brackets are connected to the side plate via mounting members made of rubber by staking sidewalls of the U-shaped side plate. Since the brackets are connected to the heat exchanger by staking after the heat exchanger is completed, the heat exchanger is easily brazed and the number and positions of the brackets on the side plate can be arbitrarily selected.

A refrigerant cycle system includes a condenser having a condensation portion for condensing refrigerant discharged from a compressor, and a receiver for separating refrigerant from the condensation portion into gas refrigerant and liquid refrigerant, and for storing the liquid refrigerant. In this system, refrigerant from the condensation portion flows into the receiver through a first communication hole, and liquid refrigerant in the receiver is discharged through a second communication hole in which a pressure loss is generated. Further, gas refrigerant at an upper side in the receiver is discharged to a downstream side of the second communication hole through a gas bypass pipe.

A refrigerant condenser is set so that, if its condensation distance is L, the equivalent diameter of a tube having a linearly configured passage for the purpose of heat exchange is de (each dimension being in units of mm), and the number of times the direction change of the linearly configured passage for the purpose of heat exchange change is N, with de.ltoreq.1.15 and the relationship L=(N+1)W=400+1,180 de to 700+1,180 de satisfied, a high heat exchange efficiency is achieved. In this refrigerant condenser, it is possible to use a single long winding tube.

A refrigerant condenser set so that a condensation distance L (mm) of the condenser falls between 400+1180 de and 700+1180 de where de (mm) is the equivalent diameter of the tubes forming the core. By setting the condensation distance L in this way, the heat exchange rate becomes higher and it is possible to determine the number of turns required for the distance L.
