An image forming apparatus includes a replaceable member, a first determination unit, and a second determination unit. The replaceable member is removable from the image forming apparatus in an open state of a door and has a storage portion storing given information. The first determination unit determines whether or not a response from the storage portion exists. The second determination unit determines the image forming apparatus is in the open state or a removed state where the replaceable member is removed from the image forming apparatus when the first determination unit determines the response is not exist in given number of times.

An image forming apparatus includes: a rotary body; a rotary body retaining member; pressure members that press the rotary body retaining member along a direction to bring shaft portions of the rotary body into positioning grooves; and an operation member. When an open/shut cover is in an open position, the operation member comes into contact with the rotary body retaining member so as to press the rotary body retaining member in a direction to bring the shaft portions of the rotary body out of the positioning grooves. When the open/shut cover is swung to a close position, the operation member is contacted by the rotary body retaining member pressed by the pressure members, thereby bringing the operation member into contact with part of the apparatus body and keeping the operation member still. The rotary body retaining member and the operation member touch each other through elastic buffering members.

An image forming apparatus includes: an image forming apparatus body; an openable member that is supported movably between an opening position and a closing position; a positioning portion that is provided in the image forming apparatus body; a positioned portion that is supported on the openable member and that is brought into contact with the positioning portion to be positioned when the openable member is in the closing position; a rotary member that is supported on the image forming apparatus body; and an opposed member that is supported on the openable member. When the openable member moves to the closing position, the opposed member moves in a direction crossing an opening/closing direction of the openable member and then moves in a reverse direction to the moving direction. And the opposed member is opposed to the rotary member rotatably when the openable member is in the closing position.

A cover opening/closing unit includes a cover body, a plurality of first hinge portions, a handle portion, and a second hinge portion. The cover body is attached to a side surface of an apparatus body. The first hinge portions are provided on both ends of a lower end portion of the cover body so as to rotatably support the cover body. The handle portion is provided between the first hinge portions. The second hinge portion is provided on a back of the cover body and between the first hinge portions so as to rotatably support the cover body.

An image forming apparatus includes: a medium conveyance unit; an image recording unit; and recording unit support portions. The image recording unit is supported by the medium conveyance unit in an undetachable manner for a user who uses the image forming apparatus. The recording unit support portions have a first support portion and a second support portion which are disposed in the image recording unit on a side of an outlet and are spaced from each other in a width direction of a medium conveyed, and a third support portion which is disposed in the image recording unit on an opposite side to the outlet. At least the first support portion and the second support portion are supported on the side of the outlet of the medium conveyance unit.
