A surface mount inductor includes a coil including a wound portion and a feeder end portion drawn out from the wound portion, a compact that contains a magnetic powder and that encapsulates the coil, and an external terminal disposed on the compact and connected to the coil. The compact has surfaces including two pressed surfaces, opposing each other in a direction of an axis of the wound portion and formed by being pressed in the direction of the axis, and a non-pressed surface, adjacent to the two surfaces and not pressed. The coil is disposed so that the axis of the wound portion is parallel to a mount surface of the compact. The mount surface is included in the non-pressed surface, the feeder end portion is exposed from the mount surface, and the external terminal is formed on only the non-pressed surface and connected to the feeder end portion.

Surface mount inductor and method for manufacturing the same

A surface mount inductor includes a coil including a conducting wire winding portion with both ends on the outer circumference and a pair of extension portions that extend from the outer circumference, a molded body containing a metal magnetic powder and the coil embedded, and a pair of outer terminals disposed on the molded body and connected to the extension portions. The molded body has principal surfaces, end surfaces, and side surfaces. One principal surface serves as a mounting surface including a recessed portion with an elevated region and a lowered region. The coil is embedded in the molded body with the winding axis of the winding portion parallel to the recessed portion, and the pair of extension portions extend from the outer circumference toward the mounting surface to be exposed at the lowered region and connected to the pair of outer terminals in the lowered region.

Surface mount inductor

A surface-mounted inductor including a coil having a wound part formed by winding a conductive wire and extended parts extended from an outer circumference of the wound part, a molded body containing the coil, constituted by a composite material containing a magnetic powder, and outer terminals connected to end portions of the extended parts disposed on a mounting surface. The wound part is contained within the molded body so that a winding axis is parallel to the mounting surface. The extended parts are extended toward the mounting surface side, each end portion of the extended parts are exposed from the surface thereof of the molded body. In the molded body, a density of a magnetic powder between the end portions of the extended parts on the mounting-side surface is lower than a density in the surface on the opposite side from the mounting surface.

Surface-mounted inductor and method of manufacturing the same

A surface-mount inductor including: a coil formed by winding insulated wire and bringing out lead ends therefrom; and a plurality of premolded bodies for accommodating the coil inside, thereby thermopressing to form, wherein a pair of metal terminals is embedded laterally on the outer surface of the surface-mount inductor, and the lead ends of the coil are brought out from the bottom surface of the surface-mount inductor and laterally laid on the outer surface of the metal terminals, as well as a method for manufacturing the same.
