A hinge device capable of generating a desired rotational torque and having a reduced size of a device configuration for a portable computer is disclosed. The hinge device includes a first shaft, a first torque generation mechanism and a power transmission mechanism. The first shaft is attached to one of a first and second chassis. The first torque generation mechanism is configured to apply a rotational torque to the first shaft. The power transmission mechanism is configured to transmit rotations of the first shaft to the first torque generation mechanism.

Hinge device for a portable computer

A chassis structure is disclosed. A chassis includes a plate-like body in which a foam layer is located between a pair of fiber-reinforced resin plates, and a frame body formed of a thermoplastic resin and joined to a peripheral portion of the plate-like body. The plate-like body is configured such that its peripheral portion is formed by an ear-like joint portion where the pair of fiber-reinforced resin plates are joined together without the foam layer located therebetween, thereby sealing the foam layer inside the pair of fiber-reinforced resin plates. The frame body is joined to the plate-like body in a state where the frame body is in contact with the joint portion.

Chassis structure for portable electronic devices

An electronic device having a member for chassis is disclosed. The member for chassis includes a surface layer, a rear layer disposed inside of the surface layer in a thickness direction, and an intermediate layer disposed between the surface layer and the rear layer. Each of the surface layer and the rear layer includes a fiber-reinforced resin plate. The intermediate layer is made of a material that is compressible in the thickness direction. The member for chassis further includes a fastening hole that penetrates through the surface layer, the intermediate layer and the rear layer, through which a fastener passes to fix the member for chassis to a member for attachment. The surface layer includes a cut line having a larger diameter than the fastening hole in order to surround the fastening hole.

Electronic device having a member for chassis

An information processing device is disclosed. The information processing device includes a first chassis and a second chassis that are connected rotatably via a hinge, and includes a connector to connect the first chassis to the hinge. The first chassis includes a laminated part having a lamination of a set of fiber-reinforced plastic layers in each of which resin is reinforced by fibers arranged in a predetermined direction. The connector is attached and fixed to a recess in the laminated part, with the recess having a shape corresponding an outer shape of the connector. Directly attached to the connector, one of the fiber-reinforced plastic layers making up a bottom of the recess and is a layer in which fibers are arranged in a direction orthogonal to a rotary axis of the hinge.

Information processing device

A stand assembly for a portable electronic device is disclosed. The stand assembly enables the portable electronic device to stand horizontally and vertically, as well as standing at an angle. The stand assembly includes a first arm swingably provided by a first hinge on a rear surface side of a chassis, a second arm swingably provided by a second hinge on the rear surface side of the chassis. The stand assembly also includes a connecting section that connects the first arm to the second arm, with the second arm being longer than the first arm.

Stand assembly for a portable electronic device

A hinge device capable of reducing a reduced-size biaxial structure that can selectively switch rotations of two shafts according to an opening/closing angle position between two chassis is disclosed. The hinge device includes a first shaft attached to a first chassis, and a second shaft attached to a second chassis. The first shaft includes a recess located on an outer peripheral surface of the first shaft, and the second shaft includes a recess located on an outer peripheral surface of the second shaft. The hinge device also includes a lock member having a first projection engageable the said first recess, a second projection engageable with the second recess, and an arm member coupling the first projection to the second projection. The lock member allows rotation of one of the first shaft or the second shaft and restricts rotation of each other according to an opening/closing angle position between the first chassis and the second chassis by alternately performing engagement of the first projection with said first recess and engagement of the second projection with the second recess by means of sway of the arm member.
