In a diagnosis method of a battery of an embodiment, based on a measurement result of a first impedance of a battery at a first frequency, it is determined, for each of a plurality of SOC values, whether an absolute value of a change ratio of the first impedance to the SOC is not more than a reference value. In the diagnosis method, for a target SOC value whose absolute value of the change ratio is not more than the reference value in the plurality of SOC values, a second impedance of the battery at a second frequency higher than the first frequency is measured. In the diagnosis method, determination concerning the state of the battery is performed based on the measurement results of the first impedance and the second impedance for the target SOC value.

According to a storage battery of an embodiment includes a first battery module and a second battery module connected in parallel with the first battery module. The number of first cells connected in series in the first battery module is M, and the number of second cells connected in series in the second battery module is N. When an open circuit voltage at SOC=X % of the first cells and the second cells are Va1 (X) and Va2 (X), respectively, the voltages of the battery modules are M×Va1 (X)<N×Va2 (X) in the range where the SOC of the cell is 0% to 30%, and M×Va1 (X)>N×Va2 (X) in the range where the SOC of the cell is 70% to 100%.

In an embodiment, an aging determination method of a battery as a target of determination is provided. With regard to a target electrode which is at least one of a positive electrode and a negative electrode of the battery, the method estimates a correction coefficient to correct a difference between lithium concentration distributions in the target electrode at a time of charging with a first electric current and at a time of charging with a second electric current greater than the first electric current based on a difference between electric potentials of a target electrode at the time of charging with the first electric current and at the time of charging with the second electric current, and an impedance of the target electrode at the time of charging with the second electric current.

According to an embodiment, system includes transmitter, pump, controller, tank and thermal storage. Pump circulates water through the transmitter. Controller drives the pump, circulates the water while the transmitter is operating, and stops the circulation of the water at a time of a stop of the transmitter. Tank stores the water circulated through the transmitter, and supplies the water to the pump. Thermal storage is provided on a surface of the tank, and stores waste heat of the exothermic part of the transmitter, which was taken in the water via the tank. Thermal storage changes in phase if a temperature of the water in the tank lowers to a predetermined temperature or below, and heats the water by latent heat which occurs.

A vapor separator in an embodiment is arranged between a first space and a second space, and is used to allow vapor existing in the first space to permeate the second space by making a vapor pressure in the second space lower than a vapor pressure in the first space. The vapor separator in the embodiment includes: a porous body having a first face, a second face opposite to the first face, and fine pores passing from the first face to the second face; and a soluble absorbent existing in the fine pores of the porous body.

In one embodiment, in a fuel cell, a first electrode supplied with an oxidant gas includes a first gas diffusion layer having a first porous base material and a first catalyst layer having a second porous base material. A second electrode supplied with a fuel includes a second gas diffusion layer having a third porous base material and a second catalyst layer having a fourth porous base material. The second catalyst layer is stacked to the second gas diffusion layer. An electrolyte film is held between the first and second catalyst layers.

According to one embodiment, a magnetic refrigeration device includes magnetic bodies, a magnetic field application unit, a thermal storage medium, and a heat transfer unit. The magnetic bodies are arrayed at an interval. The application unit applies and removes a magnetic field to and from the magnetic bodies, respectively. The medium is arranged to face at least one of the magnetic bodies. The medium has no Curie point within a range of a temperature change of the magnetic bodies and removal. The heat transfer unit selectively brings the medium into thermal contact with the magnetic bodies or thermally isolates the medium from the magnetic bodies, and transfers heat from the magnetic bodies to the medium or from the medium to the magnetic bodies in synchronism with magnetic field application and removal.

Direct methanol fuel cell

In a power generation unit incorporated in a fuel cell system, a mixture fuel with a certain concentration is supplied to an anode, power is generated by electrochemical reaction between the anode and a cathode exposed to air, and a discharge liquid containing an unreacted mixture fuel is discharged from the anode. The power generation unit is connected to a fuel circulation path for circulating the discharge liquid to the anode. If a mixture fuel is low in pressure, a fuel supply unit supplies fuel to the fuel circulation path. The temperature of the power generation unit is controlled in accordance with the concentration or volume of the mixture fuel supplied to the anode.

Fuel cell system and control method thereof

In a fuel cell system, mixture fuel having a certain fuel concentration is supplied to an anode, electric power is output from between the anode and the cathode due to electrochemical reaction when the cathode makes contact with air, and unreacted fuel containing unreacted fuel is discharged from the anode. A fuel circulating path for circulating the unreacted fuel to the anode is connected to the power generating unit and fuel is supplied from the fuel supplying unit to the fuel circulating path depending on a reduction in pressure of the mixture fuel. The temperature of the power generating unit is controlled according to the concentration of the mixture fuel supplied to the anode. Consequently, a fuel cell system, which can achieve reduction of the size thereof without dropping fuel usage efficiency, can be provided.

There are provided a power generation unit, a fuel tank, a line, a mixing tank, a fuel circulation unit which circulates a mixture fuel from the mixing tank to the mixing tank via the power generation unit and the line, a fuel supplier which supplies the fuel from the fuel tank to the mixing tank, an air supplier which supplies air to a cathode, a power adjustment unit which adjusts the current applied to the load in accordance with a generated power output, a fan which adjusts the temperature of the power generator, and a control unit which detects the concentration and volume of the mixture fuel and manipulates, on the basis of a detection result, the fuel circulation unit, the fuel supplier, the load of the power adjustment unit, the air supplier and the fan to control the concentration and volume of the mixture fuel.
