In a system for controlling rotation of torque applied to a rotating shaft of an engine of a vehicle that uses the engine as a drive source thereof, a motor is provided. A main controller controls the engine and the motor. The main controller selectably activates the motor that applies first torque to the rotating shaft of the engine, and deactivates the motor. A rotary electric machine includes a rotor connected to the rotating shaft of the engine. A rotation parameter detector measures a rotation parameter associated with rotation of the rotor of the rotary electric machine. A sequence controller performs, in response to an occurrence of a trigger situation, a control sequence that controls, independently of the main controller, the rotary electric machine based on the rotation parameter measured by the rotation parameter detector, thus applying second torque to the rotating shaft of the engine.

System for controlling torque applied to rotating shaft of engine

A rotating electric machine is applied to a multilayer winding-type rotating electric machine including a stator and a rotor. The stator includes an armature winding. The rotor includes at least one of a field winding and a permanent magnet for generating a magnetic field that have characteristics of magnetic flux of a non-sinusoidal waveform in relation to a rotation angle of the rotor. The armature winding has winding groups. Each of the winding groups has coils that are connected to an actual neutral point provided for each winding group, and has a first winding group and a second winding group that have a phase difference. A control apparatus detects a rotation angle based on a voltage at the actual neutral point of the first winding group and a voltage at the actual neutral point of the second winding group, and controls the rotating electric machine based on the rotation angle.

A rotor () for a rotary electric machine has a plurality of magnetic poles () provided at intervals, in a circumferential direction, at the outer periphery of a rotor core (). Each of the magnetic poles () has a first permanent magnet () buried in the center of the magnetic pole, and a pair of second permanent magnets () that are buried on both sides of the first permanent magnet () in the circumferential direction, and that are disposed such that a mutual spacing between the pair of the second permanent magnets () becomes narrower inward in the radial direction. A narrowest spacing between the pair of second permanent magnets () is set to be wider than a longitudinal-direction width of the first permanent magnet () in a magnetic path region () that is defined by the first permanent magnet () and the pair of second permanent magnets ().

Rotor for the electric machine

A method of welding a plurality of conductors to form a winding extending through an annular stator core. The conductors are inserted into slots formed in the stator core to have coil ends extending outside an end surface of the stator core. A plurality of pairs of the coil ends are arranged in diagonal arrays extending diagonally with respect to a radial direction of the stator core. The method inserts a first electrode into a gap between adjacent two of the diagonal arrays and then brings a second electrode close to one of the adjacent two of the diagonal arrays to arc-weld the pairs of the coil ends. This welding method enables the welding of the coil ends arrayed in the above layout efficiently while keeping the electrical insulation between the pairs of the coil ends.

Method of welding coil end of stator of electric rotating machine

A stator for an electric rotating machine is equipped with a stator winding made up of a plurality of conductor segments. Each of the conductor segments has a head and two legs. The legs are inserted through their respective slots formed in a stator core, so that each of the conductor segments has leg ends protruding from either one of opposed end surfaces of the stator core and the head thereof protruding from the other end surface. Radially adjacent two of the leg ends are provided as a coil end pair to be welded. At least one of the heads is interposed between adjacent two of the coil end pairs, thereby ensuring a distance between the two adjacent coil end pairs which is great enough to provide a required degree of electric insulation between the coil end pairs when the leg ends of the conductor segments are welded electrically.

Stator for electric rotating machine

A rotor includes a hollow cylindrical rotor core and permanent magnets embedded in the rotor core to form a plurality of magnetic poles on the radially outer periphery of the rotor core. The rotor core has a plurality of openings each of which extends in the axial direction of the rotor core so as to penetrate it. When viewed along the axial direction, each of the openings is symmetrically positioned with respect to the centerline of a corresponding one of the magnetic poles. For each of the openings, there are provided n reinforcing portions, where n is an integer not less than 2. The n reinforcing portions extend to connect a pair of radially-inner and radially-outer peripheral portions of the rotor core, thereby partitioning the opening into (n+1) parts. The n reinforcing portions are symmetrically arranged with respect to the centerline of the corresponding magnetic pole.

A stator for an electric rotating machine is provided which includes a stator winding made up of a plurality of conductor segments. Each of the conductor segments has a leg which includes an in-slot portion into one of slots of a stator core and a protrusive end extending outside the slot. The protrusive ends of the conductor segments are welded together to form a stator winding. The conductor segments are broken down into first conductor segments and second conductor segments. The protrusive ends of the first and second conductor segments include outwardly-oriented bends and inwardly-oriented bends for increasing an interval between every pair of adjacent two of the protrusive ends to be welded, thus ensuring a required degree of electrical insulation between the pairs of the protrusive ends and permits the height of a coil end of the stator winding to be decreased.

A segment core forms an annular-shaped stator core of a rotary electric machine. The stator core is formed into an annular shape by circumferentially connecting a plurality of segment cores, each segment core having a L shape and includes a yoke portion that forms the outer periphery of the stator core, a tooth portion that extends from the yoke portion to the rotary axis in a radial direction of the stator core, and a steel plate where the yoke portion and the tooth portion are formed wherein one edge of the segment core linearly extends along the yoke portion and the tooth portion in the radial direction of the stator core, the other edge forms a projection in the yoke portion jutting out from the tooth portion in the circumferential direction whereby a segment core is formed into a shape of an L.

Segment core forming stator core of rotary electric machine and method for manufacturing the segment core

A stator for an electric rotating machine includes a hollow cylindrical stator core and a multi-phase stator coil comprised of a plurality of electric wires mounted on the stator core. The stator coil includes a plurality of phase windings each of which is formed of at least two electric wires. One of the two electric wires has an end portion led out from the radially inner periphery of one slot of the stator core while the other electric wire has an end portion led out from the radially outer periphery of another slot of the stator core. The end portions of the two electric wires are joined together to form a joint therebetween. The joint is positioned axially outward of a coil end part of the stator coil, which protrudes from an axial end face of the stator core, without radially protruding from the coil end part.

A stator for an electric rotating machine includes a hollow cylindrical stator core having a plurality of slots and a stator coil formed by joining a plurality of electric wires mounted on the stator core. For each joined pair of the electric wires, one of the electric wires has an end portion led out from the radially inner periphery of one of the slots of the stator core while the other electric wire has an end portion led out from the radially outer periphery of another one of the slots of the stator core; the end portions are welded together to form a weld therebetween. Part of the welds formed between the end portions of the joined pairs of the electric wires are located on the radially inner periphery of the stator coil while the remaining welds are located on the radially outer periphery of the stator coil.

A rotary electric machine configured with a stator, rotor, and permanent magnets disposed in an inverted V-shape that becomes gradually narrower from a side of a center of rotation of the rotor. The rotor is provided with a plurality of support portions that extend radially about the center of rotation, and gap portions are respectively formed in correspondence with the plurality of support portions at positions spaced by a predetermined distance from an edge portion of the permanent magnets in a flowing direction of magnetic flux between the permanent magnets and the stator. The gap portions are formed to have such a length that causes magnetic saturation during generation of low torque in a low-current state and that causes no magnetic saturation during generation of maximum torque in a high-current state in which electricity at a high current is supplied to the stator coil.

Rotary electric machine with improved energy efficiency

A rotor for an electric rotating machine includes a rotor core and a plurality of magnetic poles. The rotor core is formed of a plurality of magnetic steel sheets laminated in the axial direction of the rotor core. The magnetic poles are formed on a radially outer periphery of the rotor core. The magnetic poles are arranged at predetermined intervals in the circumferential direction of the rotor core so that the polarities of the magnetic poles alternate between north and south in the circumferential direction. Furthermore, the magnetic steel sheets forming the rotor core are welded so that a plurality of welds are formed on one of radially outer and inner surfaces of the rotor core. Each of the welds has a pair of axial end portions that are offset from each other in the circumferential direction of the rotor core and electrically connected to each other.

A stator core of a rotating electrical machine, in which no compressive load is applied to divided cores each having an arc shape, when the divided cores are secured into a circular form, thereby decreasing the motor loss and improving the motor efficiency. The divided cores are circularly disposed, and the divided cores each having the arc shape in section perpendicular to the axial direction of the rotary axis. In the divided cores, there are provided welded portions each of which is diagonally formed between one corner end of a connecting edge and an opposite corner end of a neighboring connecting edge, thereby providing the welded portion diagonal with respect to the axial direction. The connecting edges are in parallel to the axial direction.

A method of manufacturing a stator includes: (a) preparing a stator core and electric wires; (b) assembling together the stator core and the electric wires; (c) welding corresponding pairs of the electric wires to form a stator coil, wherein for each corresponding pair of the electric wires, end portions of the electric wires are radially bent toward each other to have distal end surfaces thereof abutting each other at a position axially outside an annular coil end part of the stator coil, the distal end surfaces are welded together to form a weld between the end portions, and the end portions together make up a crossover part that extends to cross over the coil end part; and (d) deforming, for each corresponding pair of the electric wires, the end portions so as to reduce an axial distance between the coil end part and the crossover part.
