A cylinder head gasket includes a plurality of seal platestoso that a combustion gas that leaks through a gap between the respective seal plates is reliably sealed. The cylinder head gasket includes the plurality of seal platesto, which are held between a cylinder head and a cylinder block having a cylinder bore. The plurality of seal platestoare adhered to each other in a circumferentially continuous manner around combustion chamber holesto, and the combustion gas that leaks through the gap between the respective seal plates is reliably sealed within an adhered portionof the respective seal plates.

Cylinder head gasket

A cylinder head gasketis sandwiched between a cylinder headand a cylinder blockwith a cylinder boreand includes a substratewith a combustion chamber holedrilled at a position of the cylinder bore, and seal platesto, the substrateand the seal plates are stacked on one another. Fixation membersandare secured to the substrate around a periphery of the combustion chamber hole. The seal plates include an engagement holeformed therein and with which the fixation members are engaged. The engagement hole is engaged with the fixation members. The fixation members are sandwiched between the cylinder head and the cylinder block. The cylinder head and the cylinder block can be firmly coupled together via the fixation members.

In a cooling unit for an engine comprising a cylinder blockhaving a water jacketwhich opens into the surface of the cylinder blockand which circulates a cooling water in surrounding relationship with a cylinder bore, and a gasketheld sandwiched between the cylinder head and the cylinder blockto seal therebetween, the gasketis provided with a control boardwhich project into the water jacketfor controlling a flow of the cooling water, the control boardbeing formed to be arcuate in conformity to the profile of the water jacketand disposed toward the intake port.
