An insecticide for protecting a fibrous material from the damage by an insect, which comprises a carbamic ester of the formula: ##STR1## wherein R.sub.1 and R.sub.2 are, the same or different, each a hydrogen atom or a lower alkyl group and R.sub.3 is a lower alkyl group as an active ingredient.

Fabric insecticide

An insecticide which comprises an oxalic ester of the formula: ##STR1## wherein R.sub.1 and R.sub.2 are, the same or different, each a hydrogen atom or a C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 alkyl group but at least one of them is a C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 alkyl group.
