A read-only memory (ROM) includes storage areas used as a processing setting data storage unit, a successful detection rate storage unit, and a processing time storage unit. A central processing unit (CPU) can function as a calculation unit by executing a calculation program stored on the ROM. The successful detection rate storage unit stores a predetermined successful detection rate (the probability of executing subsequent processing based on a result of a current processing). The processing time storage unit stores a predetermined processing time of each processing. The calculation unit calculates a module configuration for executing each processing according to the successful detection rate stored on the successful detection rate storage unit and the processing time stored on the processing time storage unit. The processing setting data storage unit stores setting data of a characteristic amount and a setting data of positional information about image data (the address of the image data).

There are provided a data processing apparatus which makes an I/F for data processing modules (processors) versatile to facilitate addition/modification on a data processing module basis in accordance with processing contents, an image processing apparatus, and a method for the apparatuses. A data processing module () includes a read address generator (), read FIFO (), write address generator (), write FIFO (), and arbiter () and is connected to a host arbiter () through a 1-channel port. The read address generator () and write address generator () generate interrupts upon acceptance of final access requests so as to control activation of each data processing module (---) in accordance with the state of each data processing module in interrupt processing. Information processing apparatus, method and computer program

An image recognition apparatus that recognizes an object related to a certain object in an image sequentially recognizes an object from the image in accordance with recognition-order information that indicates an object order in an object sequence including the certain object, the related object, and an object connected between those objects. The apparatus determines whether or not an object recognized in a current turn of recognition has a connective relationship with an extracted object obtained in a previous turn of recognition, and obtains the object that has been determined as having a connective relationship as an extracted object. Based on an object extracted by a repetition of the above processing, that is, recognition, connective relationship determination, and obtaining, in the above-described recognition order, the related object is associated with the certain object.

Ordered recognition of connected objects

According to this invention, encoded data are generated by sorting pixel data in a block according to different scan start positions and different scan routes upon generating encoded data for respective blocks, and encoded data with a smallest data amount of these encoded data is outputted. To this end, a block generation unit inputs blocks each defined by 8&#xd7;8 pixels from image data to be encoded. Four encoding processing units respectively sort inputted 8&#xd7;8 pixels according to the information stored in scan start position information storage units and scan route information storage units. The respective encoding processing units generate encoded data based on the sorted pixel data. A selector selects and outputs encoded data with a smallest data size from those generated by the encoding processing units.
