In order to improve reliability in electrical connection between internal terminal electrodes and external electrodes in a chip-type piezoelectric-resonator which, protected with resin so as to be capable of surface mounting, a mother substrate is prepared comprising a piezoelectric substrate and a plurality of piezoelectric resonance elements formed thereon. Thick-film electrodes are formed so as to cover the terminal electrodes of the respective piezoelectric resonance elements. Thermosetting protective resin members are applied to cover both major surfaces of the mother substrate, which in turn is divided into individual piezoelectric resonance elements so that the thick-film electrodes are exposed on divided surfaces formed by dividing step. External electrodes are formed on the divided surfaces.

Method of manufacturing chip-type piezoelectric-resonator

A composite type piezoelectric component has electrodes formed on both major surfaces of a piezoelectric device. These electrodes are electrically connected and mechanically attached to two terminals having top ends shaped so as to receive and support both ends of the piezoelectric device. A capacitor is constructed with a pair of divided electrodes formed on one major surface of a dielectric substrate and another such pair on the other major surface thereof. The capacitor is attached to the two terminals by joining the divided electrodes on one of the major surfaces of the capacitor to the top ends of the terminals so as to leave a clearance between the capacitor and the piezoelectric device. A third terminal is connected to both of the other pair of divided electrodes. These two pairs of electrodes are substantially equally shaped such that directionality is not critical when the capacitor is attached to the terminals.

Composite type piezoelectric component

The heat treatment system includes a plurality of small-sized heat treating furnaces, having uniform heat treatment periods which are controlled to start the heat treatments in the respective furnaces with constant time lags. A lifting device is provided in front of the furnaces for introducing and discharging the workpieces. The lifting device is provided with a plurality of arms which project toward the furnaces, for supporting the workpieces. Untreated workpieces are stored in a front pool device and carried toward the lifting device by a conveyor, so that the lifting device inserts the workpieces into the furnaces. The workpieces, upon being completely heat treated, are removed from the furnace, moved downward onto the conveyor, and carried to a back pool device by the lifting device. The above series of operations are controlled by a single control unit.
