A computer-implemented method, system and computer program product for improving the quality of subsequent searches. A request is received from a user to perform a search using the term(s) provided by the user. A search is then performed using the provided term(s). A representation of the search result is depicted as an area (e.g., bubble) with terms of interest displayed outside the area. The area represents a set of documents that were found in the performed search and the terms of interest represent terms that may be of interest to the user based on this set of documents. These terms of interest may be selected by the user to adjust the search result. In this manner, the user is presented with an intuitive view as to how different terms or different searches will have an impact on the search results thereby improving the quality of subsequent searches.

Visualizing query results to improve quality of subsequent searches

An apparatus includes a receiving unit operable to receive a plurality of outputs from a plurality of hosts, a comparing unit operable to compare the plurality of outputs, and a display processing unit operable to generate a display in which portions of the plurality of outputs are distinguished based on a comparison result of the comparing unit.

Distinguishing portions of output from multiple hosts

Embodiments are directed to a computer implemented method of improving queries. The method includes performing a query on a document set, wherein documents that satisfy the query comprise a first subset of the document set and documents that do not satisfy the query comprise a complement subset. Thereafter, calculating a correlation for all terms in the complement subset, with respect to the complement subset. Thereafter determining a set of top correlated terms. A set of bottom correlated terms is determined. The set of top correlated terms and bottom correlated terms are presented to generate an improved query.

Queries

In the method, a position of the pointer is stored as a first position in response to receipt of a first operation performed by the user, a first menu including multiple items is displayed at a position corresponding to the first position, a position of the pointer is stored as a second position in response to receipt of a second operation performed by the user, and a second menu is displayed, being changed from the first menu based on a distance between the first position and the second position, wherein the second menu includes the plurality of items.

Selecting menu for an object in a graphical user interface (GUI) environment

A document file is displayed on a display device. A first display unit, which is a unit in which the document file is displayed, is divided into a plurality of areas. From the plurality of areas obtained by dividing the first display unit, a first target area viewed by a viewer is identified. In response to the first target area being displayed on the display device shifting from the first display unit to a second display unit, a decision is made whether to use setting information from the display area when the first target area identified by the identification means is displayed, based on a structure of the first display unit and a structure of the second display unit.

Displaying a document file target area based on history of display settings

In a font applying device on a client side in a computer system composed of the client and a server, an obfuscated font storing section stores an obfuscated font in which a character different from a character identified by the server based on a character code and having the same width of the character identified by the server is mapped to the character code. An obfuscated document receiving section receives an obfuscated document obtained by obfuscating document data as a result of converting the character code to a character code to which a character identified by the server based on the character code in the document data is mapped in the obfuscated font. A deobfuscation processing section identifies the character mapped in the obfuscated font to a character code included in the obfuscated document, and a display control section controls the display of the character.

Mapping a glyph to character code in obfuscated data

A system for integrating databases comprises a first virtual table, a second virtual table, a common table, a list, a generating section, and a selecting section. The first virtual table corresponds to a first data. The second virtual table corresponds to a second data. The common table is associated with the first and second virtual tables. The list indicates information about associations between the first and second virtual tables and the common table. The generating section generates two or more access plans from a database query on the common table. The two or more access plans involve at least one of the first and second virtual tables in accordance with the list. The selecting section selects one of the two or more access plans generated by the generating section to be used to execute the database query.

Integrating databases

Information is acquired over a network by acquiring an original request including a current search value that specifies information to be acquired from a database. It is determined whether the information to be acquired by the original request is singular with respect to a request previously issued by the information processing apparatus and stored in a request log in which a history of search values is registered. A diffusion request is generated including a dummy request to dilute singularity of an access log related to the current search value to the database issued by the information processing apparatus where the original request is determined to be singular with respect to the current search value, the dummy request being generated from a dummy value that provides a different search value requesting information different from the information to be acquired. The diffusion request is issued as a search request to the database over the network. The search result information acquired by the diffusion request is extracted from a response to the search request.
