Provided is an optically anisotropic film exhibiting excellent reverse wavelength dispersibility, a laminate, a circularly polarizing plate, and a display device. The optically anisotropic film includes a J-aggregate having an absorption peak of a J-band on a wavelength side longer than a wavelength of 700 nm, in which an absorption at a wavelength of 700 to 900 nm in a fast axis direction of the optically anisotropic film is larger than an absorption at a wavelength of 700 to 900 nm in a slow axis direction of the optically anisotropic film.

The present invention provides a phase difference film in which reflection of external light is suppressed, tinting of reflected light is suppressed, and tinting at the time of white display is suppressed in a case where the phase difference film is applied to a display device; a circularly polarizing plate; and an organic electroluminescent display device. The phase difference film of an embodiment of the present invention has an in-plane retardation of 100 to 200 nm at a wavelength of 550 nm and satisfies Requirement 1: Δxy<0.010 and Requirement 6: 0.10<Slope S≤1.0.

The composition includes a liquid crystal compound or a polymer, and a near-infrared absorbing coloring agent having a structural moiety including a coloring agent skeleton and a mesogenic group that is bonded to the coloring agent skeleton, in which the near-infrared absorbing coloring agent satisfies Condition 1 where an absolute value &#x3bb;1 of a square root of a first eigenvalue and an absolute value &#x3bb;2 of a square root of a second eigenvalue satisfy a relationship of Formula (A) &#x3bb;2/&#x3bb;1&#x2264;0.60; and Condition 2: An angle between a direction of a transition moment of absorption of the infrared absorbing coloring agent and a direction of an eigenvector of the first eigenvalue is 75.0&#xb0; or more.

An organic EL image display device that includes a light emitting element substrate; and a circularly polarizing plate. The light emitting element substrate includes a reflecting layer and an organic electroluminescent layer group arranged in a matrix form on the reflecting layer. The reflecting layer, the organic electroluminescent layer group, and the circularly polarizing plate are arranged in this order. A polarization separation layer is provided between the organic electroluminescent layer group and the circularly polarizing plate, and includes polarization separation sites arranged in a matrix form corresponding to the organic electroluminescent layer group. The polarization separation site reflects light of one polarization state and transmits light of the other polarization state in light emitted from the corresponding organic electroluminescent layer. The polarization separation site is divided by a visible light transmission region. The organic EL image display device of the present invention has high brightness and little blurring.

An object of the present invention is to provide a compound (particularly, a liquid crystal compound having excellent light fastness) which has excellent light fastness and can be used for an optically anisotropic body, a reflective film obtained by immobilizing a cholesteric liquid crystalline phase, or the like. Another object of the present invention is to provide a composition containing the above-mentioned compound (particularly, a liquid crystal compound having excellent light fastness); and a cured object, an optically anisotropic body, and a reflective film, which are obtained by curing the above-mentioned composition. The present invention provides an organic EL image display device including a light emitting element substrate, and a circularly polarizing plate, in which the light emitting element substrate includes a reflecting layer and an organic electroluminescent layer on the reflecting layer, the reflecting layer, the organic electroluminescent layer, and the circularly polarizing plate are arranged in this order, a polarization separation layer is provided between the organic electroluminescent layer and the circularly polarizing plate, the polarization separation layer includes a polarization separation region that reflects light of one polarization state in light emitted from the organic electroluminescent layer, and transmits light of another polarization state, and a visible light transmission region, the polarization separation region is formed of a layer formed by immobilizing a cholesteric liquid crystalline phase, and a positive C region-containing layer is provided between the organic electroluminescent layer and the circularly polarizing plate. The organic EL image display device according to the present invention has high brightness and little light leakage and blurring at the time of oblique observation.

The color filter for an image sensor includes: two or more absorbing color filters that absorb light components having different wavelength ranges; and a cholesteric reflecting layer in which a right circularly polarized light cholesteric layer having right circularly polarized light reflecting properties and a left circularly polarized light cholesteric layer having left circularly polarized light reflecting properties are laminated.

The present invention provides a retardation film in which a liquid crystal compound capable of showing a smectic phase is fixed in the smectic phase, the retardation film including a non-liquid crystal compound which satisfies the conditions A and B: condition A: molecular weight is 10000 or less; and condition B: T0&#x2212;T1&#x2264;30&#xb0; C. T0 represents the phase transition temperature between the nematic phase and the isotropic phase of a composition which does not contain the non-liquid crystal compound, and T1 represents the phase transition temperature between the nematic phase and the isotropic phase of a composition which contains the non-liquid crystal compound.
