A child seat includes a seat body having a seat portion, a rear portion, and left and right side panels; airbags to be inflated at sides of a head of a child; and hollow cushions disposed along inner surfaces of the side panels. When an automobile equipped with the child seat collides, the airbags are inflated at the sides of the head of the child, so that an impact applied to the head is absorbed. Furthermore, the cushions absorb a large impact from sides in a side collision and the like. The cushions are preferably disposed below regions where the airbags are inflated. The cushions receive a part of the child other than the head to absorb the impact.

Child seat with deployable side airbags

A child seat includes a seat body having a seat portion, a backrest, and left and right side guards, an airbag provided adjacent to the seat body for receiving the child upon inflation thereof, and an inflating device communicating with the airbag for inflating the airbag. When the inflating device is actuated, the airbag is inflated to receive the child for protection.

Child seat

A child seat includes a seat body having a seat portion, a backrest, and right and left side guards; and a cushion disposed on an outer side surface of the side guards. The cushion may include a gasbag filled with gas. The child seat may further include vent portion for discharging the gas in the gasbag when a gas pressure in the gasbag exceeds a predetermined pressure. When a high load is exerted on the gasbag, the gas is discharged through the vent portion, thereby absorbing a shock.

A child seat for a vehicle which can be firmly secured to a vehicle seat even with a shoulder belt of a three-point seat belt and which can wind up the seat belt to securely apply a predetermined tension to the seat belt. The child seat includes a child seat and a shaft attached to the child seat. The shaft is rotatable about an axis of the shaft. Additionally, a first end of the shaft is disposed at a higher elevation than a second end of the shaft. The shaft further includes at least one slit configured to accept a seat belt.

An airbag device includes an airbag that is deployed in front of a passenger's seat of a car, and an inflator for supplying gas to deploy the airbag. The airbag includes a lower bag segment for holding shoulders and a chest of an adult passenger when it is deployed, an upper bag segment that rises from the lower bag segment so as to hold a head of the adult passenger when it is deployed, and a partition cloth having an inner vent hole for separating the lower and upper bag segments. The inflator supplies the gas directly to the lower bag segment, and then to the upper bag segment through the inner vent hole.

Airbag device

An airbag device has an inflator to charge a small amount of gas into an airbag so as to inflate the airbag at a low internal pressure when an occupant is in proximity to the airbag device, and charges a large amount of gas into the airbag so as to inflate the airbag largely when the occupant is apart from the airbag device sufficiently. When an ignition signal is generated, a first igniter is fed currency first of all to generate a gas from a gas generating agent within a first compartment 6 and an airbag 1 begins to expand. When an occupant P is in proximity to the airbag device, the airbag 1 contacts with the occupant P immediately after starting to expand and a distance between a static pad 12 and an opposite pad 20 increases slowly. A static capacity detected in a static capacity detecting circuit 30 decreases slowly. When the static capacity exceeds a threshold value at a point when 10 millisecond have passed after an input of the ignition signal, a second igniter 9 is triggered.

An air bag assembly includes an inflatable bag which has an entrance for receiving pressurized gas. The entrance of the inflatable bag is connected with an outlet of a nozzle disposed integrally with and at an exterior of the inflatable bag. The pressurized gas is transmitted into the inflatable bag through the nozzle. An inlet of the nozzle is provided with a mouthpiece through which pressurized gas is injected.

An occupant protective device, which can precisely determine clash severity of a vehicle collision and suitably protect an occupant according to the clash severity, detects acceleration by an acceleration sensor 1, finds the acceleration, the magnitude of the acceleration, the variation with time of the acceleration, and the decrease in velocity in a control circuit 2, determines clash severity, and actuates inflators 3a, 3b according to the clash severity.

Occupant protective device

An air bag device includes a second panel that is provided with stitching or adhesive for modulating the unfurling action of an air bag after its peripheral seam comes out of a cover. For example, the second panel is formed with stitched portions or bonded portions, or tethers spanning the second panel are connected to the peripheral seam of the air bag. Further, only a single layer of a first panel of the air bag is disposed between the gas outlets of an igniter and the vehicle occupants. In operation, the peripheral seam of the air bag, when located within the cover, slides along the inner side wall of the cover against the friction therebetween, so that the first panel is slowly unfurled through an opening in the cover. After the peripheral seam of the air bag is ejected out of the cover, the above-indicated stitching or adhesive provided for the second panel is adapted to modulate the unfurling action of the air bag in the lateral direction and toward the vehicle passenger, so that the air bag can be unfurled at a relatively low rate.

Air bag device

The present invention encompasses an acceleration sensor which is capable of detecting the magnitude or the azimuth of acceleration. For this purpose, a ball 2 is set onto a bottom 1b of a tapered housing. A light emitter 3 is disposed thereunder and a light receiving unit 4 is disposed thereabove. The light receiving unit 4 comprises four light receiving elements 5A-5D which are disposed about the optical axis 10. When acceleration force is exerted on the ball 2 and the ball 2 is moved, light spot 20 of the ball 2 is moved also and output signals produced by receiving elements 5A through 5D are changed, thereby acceleration can be detected.

Acceleration sensor

A vehicle occupant protective air bag system that first deploys an air bag at a vehicle collision regardless of the presence or absence of an occupant near an air bag device, and subsequently decreases or stops gas flow into the air bag when there is a vehicle occupant near the air bag device. The air bag device has a gas pressure sensor to detect gas pressure inside an air bag. When detection signals from the sensor and an acceleration sensor are transmitted to the control unit indicating a vehicle collision, a controller of the control unit actuates a first of two inflators. If a detector determines that a vehicle occupant is near the air bag device, a second inflator of the two inflators is not actuated. If the detection detects that there is no occupant near the air bag device, the second inflator of the two inflators is actuated.

Vehicle occupant protective air bag system

An air bag is structured by superposing a lower panel and an upper panel and sewing up the peripheral portions of the panels. The air bag is provided with an opening for an inflator at its rear portion. Flaps are extended from a peripheral portion of the opening for the inflator.

Air bag

The invention is a combination of an air bag device and a vehicle. An air bag for the air bag device for a passenger seat or a rear seat is structured by superposing a lower panel and an upper panel and sewing up the peripheral portions of the panels. The lower panel is longer than the upper panel. Portions of the lower panel are superposed each other and extended out of the air bag so as to form elongated portions. A protrusion of the air bag is formed by sewing up side edges of the elongated portions with threads.

Combination of an air bag device and a vehicle

An air bag for a passenger seat or a rear seat which is produced by easy sewing and is assembled into an air bag device easily is structured by superposing a lower panel and an upper panel and sewing up the peripheral portions of the panels. The lower panel is provided with an opening for an inflator and vent holes. The opening is provided with a cloth sewed on the outside of the periphery thereof. The rod-shaped inflator is inserted between the cloth and the opening. The both ends of the inflator are fixed to a casing.

A rotary actuator-operated seat belt pretensioner comprises a frame, a belt take-up shaft rotatably mounted on the frame, and a rotary actuator mounted on the frame and including a pressure chamber, a rotating member and a gas generator for supplying pressurized gas to the pressure chamber to impart rotation to the rotating member. A clutch is interposed between the rotating member and the take-up shaft. The pressure chamber of the actuator is annular and includes an inner wall defining a space within the chamber, and the clutch is received in the space within the chamber. The driving force of the rotating member produced by gas pressure supplied to the pressure chamber is transmitted to the take-up shaft by the clutch, and rotation of the take-up shaft winds a segment of the belt onto the shaft and thereby tightens the belt.
