Phenylcyclopropane carboxylic acid derivatives having the formula ##STR1## wherein X represents hydrogen or a halogen atom, C.sub.1-5 alkyl group C.sub.1-5 alkoxy group, trifluoromethyl, cyclopropyl, tri-lower alkylsilyl, lower alkylthio or cyano group; Y represents hydrogen atom or cyano group; and R represents ##STR2## are novel compounds which are useful as insecticides and acaricides.

Insecticidal compounds having the formula ##STR1## wherein X and Y are the same or different and represent a hydrogen or a halogen atom, methyl group, a lower alkoxy group, trifluoromethyl group, phenoxy group or X and Y form ##STR2## group except both of X and Y are hydrogen atoms.
