A shift lever apparatus for changing the change-speed ranges of a transmission of an automotive vehicle. The shift lever apparatus includes an indicator panel indicating positions which respectively correspond to the change-speed ranges. A slide member is provided to be movable in relation to a shift lever. A guide device is disposed to slidably guide the slide member and includes a descending guide section which allows the slide member to be guided to separate downward from the indicator panel. A mark piece is provided to indicate one of the positions of the indicator panel to represent the present change-speed range of the transmission. Additionally, a support member is fixedly connected to at least the major part of the slide member. The support member is free from following deformation of the slide member. The mark piece is fixedly connected to the support member.

Shift lever apparatus

An automatic transmission operating lever which includes a knob with a switch, a lever member and a conducting wire wired in the knob to send a signal from the switch. The lever member includes a rod to be inserted into the knob and a lever base having an end face to which the rod is connected. An insertion hole is provided on an end face, and the conducting wire is inserted thereto. A guide path communicates with the insertion hole and guides the conducting wire in a direction crossing an axial direction of the rod.

A shift lever device which includes a housing, a shift lever, a knob, a rod with a key and a locking mechanism. The shift lever has a tube and a supporting member provided with a pivot supported by the housing on the vehicle body and a base block to which the tube is connected. The knob is connected to the tube. The rod inserted through the shift lever, is movable in an axial direction by operating the knob button of the knob. The key has a detent engaging portion to engage with a detent plate of the housing. The locking mechanism has a lock lever with a locking portion at its tip. The lock lever swings so that the locking portion is interposed between the base block and the key to lock movement of the rod, thus maintaining the engagement of the detent engaging portion with the detent plate.

A key interlock mechanism for a column automatic-transmission operating device includes a key lock lever having one end with a slot and swingably supporting the lock pin through the slot, a shank formed with the key lock lever, a guide groove formed with a unit base and cooperating with the shank to rotatably support the key lock lever so as to bias a lock pin in the direction of protruding into a key cylinder, and a key lock lever spring wound around the shank for biasing the key lock lever so that the lock pin protrudes into the key cylinder and for returning to a given position another end of the key lock lever which has moved along the guide groove.

A shift-lever device includes a position plate integrated with a base plate and formed with a detent groove, a shift lever supported to the base plate to be swingable along the position plate and including a base arranged adjacent to the position plate, and a compression rod arranged through the shift lever to axially be movable by operation of a knob button. A detent protrusion is arranged with the compression rod at a lower end to be engageable with the detent groove. A guide integrated with the base of the shift lever holds part of the detent protrusion longitudinally with respect to a vehicle body.

The retractor comprises a housing; a shaft rotatably received in the housing for selectively winding and unwinding the seat belt thereabout and therefrom; an emergency locking device including a stand-man holder tightly held by the housing, a stand-man operatively held by the holder and a pivotal lever member, the pivotal lever member locking the shaft against rotation in a direction to draw the seat belt therefrom when the stand-man is inclined relative to the stand-man holder; and a structure mounted to the housing to define a sound insulating enclosed space in which the stand-man and the pivotal lever member are installed.
