A controlling method for a nuclear magnetic resonance apparatus. The method includes: (A) cooling the high-temperature superconductor at a magnetization low temperature sufficiently lower than a superconductor transition temperature, and magnetizing the high-temperature superconductor with a magnetic field; (B) raising the temperature of the high-temperature superconductor at a magnetic flux setting temperature higher than the magnetization low temperature and lower than the superconductor transition temperature and setting a predetermined magnetic flux density; and (C) controlling the high-temperature superconductor in an operation temperature range lower than the magnetic flux setting temperature. Therefore, a strong static magnetic field comparable to a conventional superconducting magnet is formed without using a refrigerant (liquid helium) essential for operating the conventional superconducting magnet, and a magnetic flux density of the static magnetic field is held constant.

Controlling method of superconductor magnetic field application apparatus, and nuclear magnetic resonance apparatus and superconducting magnet apparatus using the method

A nuclear magnetic resonance apparatus including: a cup-shaped high-temperature superconductor having a hollow cylindrical shape or portion cooled to not more than a superconducting transition temperature in a vacuum insulating container and a detection coil for detecting an NMR signal of a material to be measured inserted into the hollow cylindrical portion of the high-temperature superconductor. The high-temperature superconductor is magnetized in an axial direction, a static magnetic field is thereby generated in the hollow cylindrical portion in a cylinder axial direction, and the NMR signal of a material is detected by the detection coil and the existing spectrometer. A strong static magnetic field comparable to a conventional superconducting magnet is formed without using a refrigerant (liquid helium) essential for operating the conventional superconducting magnet, and a strength distribution of the static magnetic field is homogeneous.

Nuclear magnetic resonance apparatus

Superconducting motor

A variable resistor with a switching function includes arcuate resistive layers and arcuate electrodes arranged alternately on a base plate. A protective layer is formed on the base plate adjacent to a first electrode and between the arcuate resistive layers. A gap separates the protective layer from the first electrode in order to electrically isolate the protective layer. A movable portion has brushes fixed thereto which slidably contact the resistive layers, the electrodes, and the protective layer. The protective layer serves as a lubricating layer to reduce the wear on the brush.

In a method of making a poly-V grooved pulley from a circular flat plate of sheet metal of a predetermined thickness, the central portion of the parent flat plate is pressed to form a cup-shaped blank integral with a circular flat peripheral flange of the same thickness as that of the parent flat plate, the cup-shaped blank having a predetermined thickness thinner than that of the parent flat plate. The cup-shaped blank is pressed to form a hub wall, and the circular flat peripheral flange is drawn to form a cylindrical pulley flange wall. At the final stage, the cylindrical pulley flange wall is formed in its exterior periphery with a plurality of V-shaped grooves for a poly-V belt.

An artificial stem unit for coxa with a setting guide comprises a stem made of metal to be inserted into the marrow cavity of a femur and a setting guide for fixing the stem in the marrow cavity comprising a cylindrical core rod and a plug attached to the end of the cylindrical core rod. In the operation, the setting guide is inserted into the marrow cavity of the femur in advance for the centering, and thereafter, the stem is inserted so that the through hole of the stem fit with the cylindrical core rod of the setting guide. Then the bone cement is injected to fix the stem at an accurate position set up by the above operation.

A tilt sensor for a vehicle steering shaft includes a base resistive element layer formed in an opposed contact with a base plate surface. A plural layer structure is provided with a protective resistive element layer constructed by at least one layer formed on the base resistive element layer and an uppermost layer of the volume inherent reistance of the protective resistive element layer is higher than the volume inherent resistance of the base resistive element layer. The volume inherent resistance of the protective resistive element layer is from 2 to 500 times the volume inherent resistance of the base resistive element layer.

Tilt sensor for vehicle steering shaft

In order to improve the stabilization and the heat-resistance of a strain gauge, the strain gauge is made of an amorphous alloy including Ni (nickel), Cr (Chromium) and Si (silicon). The amorphous alloy including Ni, Cr and Si has a high crystallization point, its temperature co-efficient of resistance is almost zero obtained by annealing. The amorphous alloy is stabilized from low to high temperatures and thus can be used from low to high temperatures without compensation. The amorphous alloy is a non-magnetic substance and the strain gauge thus is not substantially affected by external electromagnetic noise.

Strain gauges for the pressure sensor

A variable resistor having a multi-layer resistive/conductive element is provided. The resistor has three electrodes, a resistive element connecting two of the electrodes and a sliding contact between the resistive element and the third electrode. The base of the resistor is provided with test areas. Each of the test areas contains a strip of the material used to form an individual layer in the multi-layer element. The test areas provide a convenient means for measuring the thickness of the individual layers in the multi-layer element without having to destroy the resistor.

The resistive body is composed of a lower resistive layer formed on the surface of a substrate and an upper resistive layer formed on said lower resistive layer, wherein said upper resistive layer has 2 to 500 times greater value of volume resistivity compared with said lower resistive layer.
