An eyeglass-type wearable device includes a first temple part that is positioned along one temporal region of a user, a second temple part that is positioned along the other temporal region of the user, and a front part that is positioned in front of the face of the user, when the eyeglass-type wearable device is worn by the user. The first temple part includes a first electrical unit, and the second temple part includes a second electrical unit. The front part includes a first connection section to which the first temple part is connected, a second connection section to which the second temple part is connected, and a connection line that electrically connects the first electrical unit of the first temple part and the second electrical unit of the second temple part when the first temple part and the second temple part are connected to the front part.

A head-mounted display device is provided, the head-mounted display device including: a display element; a light guide prism that includes an incident surface through which image light from the display element enters and that guides the image light to user's eyes; and a housing that contains the display element and the light guide prism; and support unit that fixes the housing to user's head. The light guide prism is partially covered by and contained in the housing. A portion of side surface of the light guide prism covered by the housing is formed with a first groove, and portion of side surface of the light guide prism exposed outside the housing is formed with a second groove. Depth of the first groove measured from the side surface is greater than that of the second groove.

Head-mounted display device

An eyepiece optical member has an easy-to-clean interior, and a head-mounted display device is provided with the eyepiece optical member. The eyepiece optical member includes a housing with a built-in display element, a light guide prism in which image light from the display element enters through an entrance surface and is guided to exit from an exit surface towards an eyeball of an observer so as to be observed as a magnified virtual image, and a protective member formed separately from the housing and covering a portion of the light guide prism. The housing includes two opposing plate-like portions, the light guide prism is fixed to the protective member as an assembled member, and the assembled member is sandwiched between the two opposing plate-like portions. The head-mounted display device includes a support member for fixation to a wearer's head and includes the eyepiece optical member attached to the support member.

Eyepiece optical member and head-mounted display device

The head-mounted display device includes a display element, a light guide prism that, in a state of use, guides a regular image light beam from the display element to an exit surface in front of the user's eye, and a support that secures the display element and the light guide prism with respect to the user's head. On at least one side along the optical axis of the regular image light beam, the light guide prism includes at least one first-type inclined surface at a position outside of the region through which the regular image light beam from the display element passes, and the first-type inclined surface is formed to be inclined so as to cause light incident on the first-type inclined surface from a direction along the optical axis of the regular image light beam to be reflected and emitted to the outside of the user's eyeball.

An eyeglass-type wearable device includes a first temple part positioned along one temporal region of a user, a second temple part positioned along the other temporal region of the user, and a front part positioned in front of the face of the user, when the eyeglass-type wearable device is worn by the user. A head-mounted display is worn on the head of the user, and allows the user to observe a display image, the head-mounted display including a display section that displays the display image, and a control section that performs a control process that controls the timing at which the display image is displayed on the display section. The control section performs the control process that causes a display period and a non-display period to repeat alternately, and sets one display period to be equal to or less than 600 ms, the display period being a period in which the display image is displayed on the display section, and the non-display period being a period in which the display image is not displayed on the display section.

A first light blocking portion and a second light blocking portion are formed in at least one of the side surfaces of a light guide prism. The first light blocking portion and the second light blocking portion are arranged so that a shaded area and an invisible area overlap each other at least partly and cover an inter-groove area between the first light blocking portion and the second light blocking portion, where the shaded area is an area shadowed from image light due to the first light blocking portion, and the invisible area is an area invisible during virtual image observation by the observer due to the second light blocking portion.

A light guide prism for guiding image light from a display device to an observer's eye and displaying a virtual image of the display device in the observer's field of view includes at least four sides disposed to surround an optical path of image light incident from one end, a reflecting surface configured to reflect the image light guided by the at least four sides, and an emission surface configured to emit the image light reflected at the reflecting surface towards the observer's eye. At least one groove in a V-shape is formed on each of the at least four sides. As a result, a light guide prism that reduces stray light and ghost light occurring due to reflection at inner surfaces and an image display apparatus using this light guide prism can be provided.
