A toner includes toner particles containing a binder resin, a colorant, and inorganic fine particles, in which in a depth profile of an element distribution in a depth region from the outermost surface of a particle to a depth of 500 nm the depth profile being obtained by an element analysis performed by X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy using the toner as a sample, two or more minimum points of a concentration of a carbon element in the depth region exist, a concentration of an inorganic element becomes a maximum value at a depth position corresponding to each of the minimum points, and the inorganic element is an element derived from the inorganic fine particle.

A toner that is suppressed from deteriorating owing to its long-term use and can maintain high transferability. The toner includes: a toner particle containing an amorphous polyester serving as a binder resin and a polymer A; and inorganic fine particles, wherein the polymer A includes a graft copolymer of a polyolefin and a vinyl-based polymer unit having a carboxylate anion group, and a metal ion having a valence of 2 or more.

A developing apparatus includes a rotary shaft member, a sheet member including a first developer conveying portion, an internal edge of which is held by the rotary shaft member, and which conveys developer in a first direction along a rotary shaft of the rotary shaft member, and a second developer conveying portion which conveys the developer in a second direction opposite to the first direction along the rotary shaft. The second developer conveying portion has an internal edge held by the rotary shaft member, and the rotary shaft member is radially disposed between the internal edges of the first and second developer conveying portions. In addition, a reinforcing unit reinforces the sheet member so as to have different degrees of reinforcement with respect to each of the first and second developer conveying portions.

Developing apparatus and image forming apparatus having opposite direction developer conveying portions

An image forming apparatus includes a developing apparatus including a housing having a supply opening to receive developer supplied by a pump unit, a developing device screw disposed in a discharge path of the housing to supply and discharge the developer through a discharge opening to an image bearing member, and a developer bearing portion having a magnetic body that generates a magnetic force and is configured to bear the developer with a carrying force working in a substantially perpendicular direction to the magnetic force. In addition, a developer accommodation portion within the housing accommodates the developer supplied from a supply opening and has no opening other than the supply opening and the discharge opening, with the developer accommodation portion having a space volume capable of suppressing a spouting force caused by an inner pressure increase due to operation of the pump unit.

A developer conveying apparatus for conveying a developer that develops an electrostatic latent image includes a rotation unit which rotates around a rotation shaft extending in an axial direction and parallel to a developer conveying direction, a first developer conveying portion which is provided in the rotation unit and which has an opening configured to convey the developer in a first axial direction of the rotation shaft, and a second developer conveying portion which is provided in the rotation unit and which has an opening configured to convey the developer in a second axial direction opposite to the first axial direction. A distance from the rotation shaft to the opening in the first developer conveying portion is different than a distance from the rotation shaft to the opening in the second developer conveying portion.
