The present invention provides a dye composition for an ophthalmic lens, which is a dye composition used for dyeing an ophthalmic lens with an ink-jet coating equipment, characterized by the composition including: (A) a dye having at least one group having a carbon-carbon double bond selected from an &#x3b1;,&#x3b2;-unsaturated carbonyl group, a styryl group, a vinylbenzyl group and an allyl group per molecule; (B) a radical polymerization initiator; and (C) a solvent capable of dissolving at least a part of the component (A) and the component (B), and/or (D) a monomer having at least one radical polymerizable group per molecule.

Dye composition for ophthalmic lens, method for producing colored ophthalmic lens using the same, and colored ophthalmic lens

Provided is a colored contact lens in which a colored band is disposed at a boundary part between a dark part and a white part of an eye, and a density is gradually changed from the dark part to the white part of the eye such that the density of this colored band decreases from an inner circumference side to an outer circumference side. As a result, a novel colored contact lens is provided with which it is possible to bring out beauty of the white part of the eye, which has been ignored by conventional technology, while an impression is maintained that is as natural and elegant as possible by avoiding an artificial impression such as that found in conventional technology.

The present invention provides a hybrid soft contact lens including a central portion formed with a first hydrous soft material, and a peripheral portion formed with a second hydrous soft material, in which the first hydrous soft material is obtained by curing a first curable composition including a silicone-containing monomer. Preferably, the first hydrous soft material has a Young's modulus of no less than 3.0 MPa and no greater than 100 MPa, and the second hydrous soft material has a Young's modulus of no less than 0.20 MPa and less than 3.0 MPa.

A method of producing a medical instrument whereby a highly hydrophilic and lubricant coating layer having a high durability can be formed by a simple technique and thus highly hydrophilic and lubricant properties can be imparted to a surface of a medical instrument. An intraocular lens insertion instrument having been subjected to a surface treatment as described above is also provided. The method includes preparing a coating solution by mixing at least a water-insoluble polymer having carboxyl group and a polyfunctional reactive compound with an organic solvent; applying this solution on the surface of the medical instrument; conducting crosslinking; and performing a chemical reaction process. The coating layer is made hydrophilic. The intraocular lens insertion instrument is made hydrophilic by forming the coating layer as described above on an inner surface of an insertion tube portion, crosslinking and then performing the chemical reaction process.

Method of producing medical instrument

A contact lens excellent in optical property, offering favorable feeling during the use thereof, and capable of continuous uses, which is composed of a hard portion in the central part and a soft portion in the periphery of the central part is provided. The contact lens comprising two kinds of polymers and having a hard portion arranged in the central part thereof and a soft portion arranged in the periphery of the central part, wherein a monomer mixture forming the hard portion contains at least one silicone-containing monomer, and the monomer mixture forming the hard portion and a monomer mixture forming the soft portion each contain at least one common hydrophilic monomer.
