A light-source device includes: two long-wavelength light sources that emit red long-wavelength light beams (LWLs); a broadband light source that emits a green broadband light beam (BL); and a multiplexing portion that multiplexes a wavelength region greater than a first predetermined wavelength &#x3bb;of one of the LWLs having a longer peak wavelength and a wavelength region equal to or less than &#x3bb;of the other LWL having a shorter peak wavelength, and that multiplexes a wavelength region greater than a second predetermined wavelength &#x3bb;of the other LWL and a wavelength region equal to or less than &#x3bb;of the BL, wherein intensities of the LWLs at &#x3bb;are equal to or greater than 10% of the peak intensities thereof and intensities of the other LWL and the BL at &#x3bb;are equal to or greater than 10% of the peak intensities thereof.

Light-source device

A light source device is provided with: a plurality of surface light sources that have different wavelength bands; a multiplexing unit that multiplexes light beams emitted from the surface light sources; and an adjustment unit that adjusts, when an endoscope that serves as a reference endoscope is connected, the light amounts of light beams emitted from the surface light sources such that illumination light emitted from the reference endoscope has a predetermined color balance and that corrects, when an arbitrary endoscope is connected, the color balance on the basis of the ratio of the color balance of illumination light emitted from the connected endoscope and the color balance of illumination light emitted from the reference endoscope.

Light source device

An endoscope apparatus includes: first and second cooling units configured to cool first and second light source portions; an image pickup portion configured to generate a picked-up image; and a cooling control portion configured to control amounts of light emission of the light source portions while maintaining an amount-of-light ratio so that the brightness of the picked-up image becomes the target brightness and control cooling based on the information about the amount-of-light ratio and the brightness control information; wherein the cooling control portion decides a cooling capacity of the first cooling units and a cooling capacity of the second cooling units for cooling the respective light source portions for which the amounts of light emission are controlled, at the cooling ratio, so as to cause the light source portions to be included within a predetermined temperature range, based on the brightness control information.

Endoscope apparatus

A light source apparatus includes first and second light sources having different maximum light amounts used, a first light amount detection section detecting a light amount of first light of the first light source, a second light amount detection section detecting a light amount of second light of the second light source, a light amount limiting section limiting a light amount of light incident upon the second light amount detection section so that light amounts detected in the first light amount detection section and the second light amount detection section match a predetermined value within a detection range when light with the maximum light amounts used are emitted from the first light source and the second light source, and a control section controlling amounts of light emission of the first light source and the second light source based on detection results of the first and second light amount detection sections.

Using a transmittance adjusting device decreasing a transmittance of at least from 460 nm to 500 nm, which is a wavelength range between a point of end of a first optical absorption peak of hemoglobin and a point of start of a second optical absorption peak of hemoglobin, to between 20% and 70% for illuminating light from an illuminating light supply section or reflected light from an object, during observation of the inside of a body cavity, enhanced display of vessels with color reproduction that has no difference from that in observation under visible light, enabling color reproduction similar to that in observation under visible light and further enhanced display of vessels.

An endoscope apparatus includes a flash memory that stores a reference value of a color balance adjustment value of an endoscopic image of an endoscope that picks up an object through a polarizer. The endoscope calculates, from the reference value and the color balance adjustment value of the endoscope after elapse of a predetermined time period, an amount of change in the color balance adjustment value; judges whether or not the calculated amount of change is equal to or larger than a predetermined threshold; and, when the amount of change is equal to or larger than the predetermined threshold, outputs a predetermined output.

A light source apparatus includes a first rotational filter section that can place a blue filter, a green filter and a magenta filter in a light path, a second rotational filter section that can place a yellow filter in the light path and a band selection filter section that can place an NBI filter that limits blue and green light to a narrow band, wherein the first and the second rotational filter sections are controllable so that in the case of normal light imaging, the yellow filter is placed in the light path when the magenta filter is placed in the light path and in the case of narrow band imaging, the NBI filter is placed in the light path LP and the yellow filter is placed in the light path when the green filter is placed in the light path.
