An imaging device or a display device that is capable of clearly capturing an image of a fingerprint or the like can be provided. The display device includes a light-receiving element, a light-emitting element, a first substrate, a second substrate, a first resin layer, a second resin layer, and a light-blocking layer. The first resin layer, the second resin layer, and the second substrate are stacked over the first substrate. The light-receiving element and the light-emitting element are positioned between the first substrate and the first resin layer. The light-blocking layer is positioned between the first resin layer and the second resin layer and includes an opening portion overlapping with the light-receiving element. The opening portion in the light-blocking layer is positioned on an inner side of a light-receiving region of the light-receiving element in a plan view, and the width of the opening portion is less than or equal to the width of the light-receiving region. The second substrate is thicker than the first resin layer and the second resin layer. The thickness of a portion of the first resin layer, which overlaps with the light-receiving region of the light-receiving element, is greater than or equal to one time and less than or equal to 10 times as large as the width of the light-receiving region. The second substrate has a higher refractive index than the first resin layer and the second resin layer.

A display device provided with an image capturing function is provided. A display device with both high viewing angle characteristics and high image capturing performance is provided. The display device includes a light-emitting and light-receiving element and a color filter. The light-emitting and light-receiving element includes a light-emitting and light-receiving region having a function of emitting light of the first color and a function of receiving light of the second color. The color filter is positioned over the light-emitting and light-receiving element and has a function of transmitting the light of the first color and a function of blocking the light of the second color. The color filter includes an opening portion. The light-emitting and light-receiving region includes a portion positioned in the inside of the opening portion in the plan view.

An electronic device having an authentication method with a high security level is provided. The electronic device includes a pixel portion, a sensor portion, an authentication portion, and a housing. The pixel portion includes a display element and a light-receiving element. The pixel portion has a function of turning on the display element. The pixel portion has a function of obtaining authentication information by capturing an image of a target object touching the pixel portion. The sensor portion has a function of detecting attachment or detachment to a living body or an object. The authentication portion has a function of performing authentication processing with the use of the authentication information. The housing includes a first surface and a second surface opposite to the first surface. The pixel portion is positioned on the first surface and the sensor portion is positioned on the second surface.

Electronic device and authentication method for electronic device

A display device having a photosensing function is provided. A display device having a biometric authentication function typified by fingerprint authentication is provided. A display device having both a touch panel function and a biometric authentication function is provided. The display device includes a first substrate, a light guide plate, a first light-emitting element, a second light-emitting element, and a light-receiving element. The first substrate and the light guide plate are provided to face each other. The first light-emitting element and the light-receiving element are provided between the first substrate and the light guide plate. The first light-emitting element has a function of emitting first light through the light guide plate. The second light-emitting element has a function of emitting second light to a side surface of the light guide plate. The light-receiving element has a function of receiving the second light and converting the second light into an electric signal. The first light includes visible light, and the second light includes infrared light.

Display device

A thin optical device having high light utilization efficiency and less chromatic aberration and a small electronic device including the optical device are provided. The thin optical device includes a first reflective polarizing plate, a lens, an optical rotator, a retardation plate, and a second reflective polarizing plate. The optical device can be a thin optical device by rotation of the polarization plane of linearly polarized light with the optical rotator and utilization of a property of selectively reflecting circularly polarized light of the second reflective polarizing plate. Furthermore, the optical device does not use a half mirror and thus has a property of high light utilization efficiency. When the second reflective polarizing plate has a layered structure, chromatic aberration of an optical system can be reduced.

Optical device and electronic device

A novel optical functional device that is highly convenient, useful, or reliable is provided. The optical functional device includes a light-emitting function, a photoelectric conversion function, a first electrode, a second electrode, and an optical functional layer. The light-emitting function converts electrical energy into first light, the first light has a first emission spectrum, and the first emission spectrum exhibits a maximum peak at a first wavelength. At a second wavelength, the intensity of the first emission spectrum is 80% of the maximum peak. The photoelectric conversion function has a spectral sensitivity characteristic; at a third wavelength, the spectral sensitivity characteristic has a maximum sensitivity within a range of 420 to 720 nm inclusive; and at a fourth wavelength, the sensitivity of the spectral sensitivity characteristic is 80% of the maximum sensitivity. The third wavelength is positioned closer to the second wavelength than to the first wavelength, and the fourth wavelength is positioned closer to the first wavelength than to the third wavelength.

The light-emitting device includes an insulating film, a group of structure bodies, a layer containing a light-emitting material, a first electrode, and a second electrode. The group of structure bodies includes a structure body and a different structure body, a first distance is provided between the different structure body and the structure body, the insulating film includes a first surface, the structure body includes a sidewall, the sidewall forms a first angle with the first surface, and the first angle is greater than 0° and less than or equal to 90°. The layer containing a light-emitting material includes a first region and a second region, the first region is interposed between the second electrode and the first electrode, light is emitted from the first region, the second region is interposed between the second electrode and the sidewall, and the sidewall reflects light. The first electrode includes a third region, and the third region is interposed between the first region and the first surface.

Light-emitting device configured to improve light-extraction efficiency including reflective structure body between first electrode and light-emitting material, functional panel, display device, input/output device, and data processing device

An electronic device that can easily increase the viewing angle and has a reduced screen-door effect is provided. In the electronic device, images displayed on a display panel with a low pixel density and a display panel with a high pixel density are synthesized to be seen. The electronic device includes a first display panel that has a relatively large screen size and a low pixel density, and a second display panel and a third display panel each of which has a relatively small screen size and a high pixel density. The electronic device is configured such that visual information enters the central field of view from the second display panel or the third display panel and visual information enters the peripheral field of view from the first display panel. Such a configuration can easily increase the viewing angle and reduce the screen-door effect.

Electronic device

A display device having a biometric authentication function is provided. A highly convenient display device is provided. The display device includes a first substrate, a light guide plate, a plurality of first light-emitting elements, a second light-emitting element, and a plurality of light-receiving elements. The light guide plate includes a first portion having a first surface and a second portion having a second surface that connects with the first surface and has a different normal direction from the first surface. The first light-emitting elements and the light-receiving elements are provided between the first substrate and the light guide plate. The first light-emitting elements have a function of emitting first light through the light guide plate, and the second light-emitting element has a function of emitting second light to a side surface of the light guide plate. The light-receiving elements have a function of receiving the second light and converting the second light to an electric signal. The first light includes visible light, and the second light includes infrared light.

Display element having authentication portion and health monitoring portion

A display apparatus having a light detection function is provided. The display apparatus includes a first pixel and a second pixel. The first pixel includes a first subpixel and a second subpixel. The second pixel includes a third subpixel. The first subpixel is a subpixel that emits light with the shortest wavelength (e.g., blue light or light with a shorter wavelength than blue light) in subpixels included in the first pixel. The second subpixel has a function of receiving the light emitted by the first subpixel. The third subpixel is a subpixel that emits light with the shortest wavelength in subpixels included in the second pixel. The common electrode includes stripe regions extending in a direction intersecting with the signal line.

Liquid crystal display device comprising a pixel portion having a plurality of transistors

To provide a novel photoelectric conversion device that is highly convenient, useful, or reliable. The photoelectric conversion device includes a first electrode, a second electrode, and a first unit. The first unit is located between the first electrode and the second electrode. The first unit contains a first electron-donating material and a first electron-accepting material. The first electron-donating material is a condensed aromatic compound, and the first electron-accepting material has a perylene skeleton and two or more alkyl groups. The alkyl groups each independently have 1 to 13 carbon atoms.

Photoelectric conversion device and optical functional device

A novel functional panel that is highly convenient, useful, or reliable is provided. The functional panel includes a base material and a pair of pixels, and the base material covers the pair of pixels and has a light-transmitting property. The pair of pixels includes one pixel and another pixel, and the one pixel includes a light-emitting device and a first microlens. The light-emitting device emits light toward the base material, and the first microlens is interposed between the base material and the light emission and converges light. The first microlens includes a first surface and a second surface; the second surface is closer to the light-emitting device than the first surface is; and the second surface has a smaller radius of curvature than the first surface. The other pixel includes a photoelectric conversion device and a second microlens. The second microlens is interposed between the base material and the photoelectric conversion and converges external light incident from the base material side.
