A system for treating and/or monitoring a patient includes a patient physiological parameter monitoring patch and a companion device. The patient physiological parameter monitoring patch including an energy harvesting module, an energy storage module, a sensor module and a communication module. The energy harvesting module harvesting energy from one or more ambient sources, the energy being storable in the energy storage module and usable by one or more components of the patient physiological parameter monitoring patch. The sensor module senses one or more physiological parameters of the patient and the communication module can transmit the sensed data. The companion device can receive the sensed physiological parameters and can send the same to a remote device or store the same.

Systems and methods for ambient energy powered physiological parameter monitoring

Defibrillators with enhanced functionality during cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) periods are described. The enhancements include predicting a length of a charging period of a capacitor of the medical device so that capacitor is shock charged at the end of the CPR period. The enhancements also include re-assessing an electrocardiogram (ECG) signal for continued presence of a shockable rhythm during the CPR period and before administration of a defibrillation shock. Together the enhancements can improve the timing and recommended administration of defibrillation therapy.

Defibrillators with enhanced functionality during cardiopulmonary resuscitation periods

Disclosed systems and methods include electronic devices attached to a patient or object that transmit data to other devices over a secure communication channel. The devices can track and/or monitor object(s) and/or patient(s) and transmit the tracked and/or monitored data to other electronic devices. Such data can include monitored patient physiological parameter(s) received and/or sensed by the device, for example. A master of the two devices transmits a communication signal to another device that, in response, initiates a secure wireless communication channel, causes one or more modules on the device to be powered, and, when powered, transmits the tracked and/or sensed physiological data over the secure wireless communication channel to the master device. Some example master devices transmit the communication signal with an instruction to the device to activate an onboard power source that later may be disconnected after the tracked and/or physiological data is transmitted.

Systems and methods of secure communication of data from medical devices

The present disclosure relates generally to a defibrillator assembly comprising a defibrillator having a first operating mode for delivering a high energy output to a patient and a second operating mode for monitoring the patient, a first battery unit operably coupled to the defibrillator, and a second battery unit operably coupled to the defibrillator. One of the first battery unit and the second battery unit provides power to the defibrillator during the second operating mode. Both the first battery unit and the second battery unit provide power to the defibrillator during the first operating mode.

System for control of multiple defibrillation therapies

A defibrillator system optimizes the timing and manner of applying a defibrillator charge to a patient based upon data provided to the defibrillator from a utility module or one or more external devices. A parameter module on the utility module provides the defibrillator with patient parameter information. Devices external to the utility module may provide the utility module with coaching data that the utility module may pass through to the defibrillator as a proxy to the external devices. The utility module may also provide external devices with patient data that the utility module may pass through to the external devices as a proxy to the defibrillator on a scheduled or other basis. The utility module may additionally provide a reserve of power to enable defibrillators to be used where power is unavailable and to enable defibrillators to deliver multiple charges more readily anywhere, anytime.

Time after time studies find that often, even when administered by trained professionals, cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) compression rates and depth are inadequate. Too week, shallow or too forceful compressions may contribute to suboptimal patient outcome. Several parameters are crucial for optimal and properly-administered CPR. Crucial parameters include proper hand positioning on the patient's chest, depth of compression of 4-5 cm, and compression rate of 100 compressions per minute. The crucial parameters are often affected by patient parameters, and relative to the patient, rescuer parameters, such as patient thoracic volume; weight; age; gender; and rescuer's, relative to the patient's, parameters, such as weight, height; physical form, etc. Proposed is an automated CPR feedback device with user programmable settings for assisting with real-time feedback and subsequently correcting rescuers patient customized CPR technique.
