An impact tool having a split anvil assembly includes an internal anvil portion fixed inside a housing of the impact tool and an external anvil portion that is removably attached to the internal anvil portion and extends outside of the housing. The external anvil portion includes a retractable pin biased to an extended position to engage the internal anvil portion to secure the external anvil portion to the internal anvil portion and depressed to a retracted position to permit the external anvil portion to be disengaged from the internal anvil portion. The internal anvil portion and the external anvil portion may include respective internal and external grooves that interconnect with each other to link the movement of the internal anvil portion to the external anvil portion.

A power tool comprises an adjustable auxiliary handle assembly that facilities safe use of the tool by the operator when handling heavy duty handheld machinery. The adjustable auxiliary handle assembly comprises a strap, a handle base, an over-center linkage assembly, a locking lever, a locking lever and an adjustable knob. The strap is easily released and able to rotate and be locked in a different position convenient and comfortable to the operator. The auxiliary handle assembly is adjustable and can be operated with one hand (e.g., one-handed operation). The over-center linkage assembly holds the auxiliary handle position in place while allowing the power tool to be used in high-torque/high load applications.

Improved radial pneumatic regulator systems, devices and methods are described herein. Embodiments may comprise regulators with adaptive radial seals to prevent air leakage, provide increased air supply use efficiency, and facilitate more efficient manufacture and assembly of systems. The regulator systems may be used in applications such as for pneumatic power tools.

The present invention provides methods and systems for a rotary impact device having an annular exterior surface for use with an impact wrench for providing torque to a fastener. The rotary impact device includes an input member having an input recess for receiving the anvil of the impact wrench, an output member having an output recess for receiving the fastener, and an inertia member. The inertia member is stationary and positioned on the exterior surface of the rotary impact device for increasing the torque applied to the fastener.

In at least one illustrative embodiment, a rotary impact tool may include an anvil and at least one hammer configured to impact the anvil to cause the anvil to rotate. The anvil may include an output shaft, a first lug extending outward in a radial direction from the output shaft and extending a first distance around the output shaft in a circumferential direction, and a second lug extending outward in the radial direction from the output shaft and extending a second distance, different from the first distance, around the output shaft in the circumferential direction.

In at least one illustrative embodiment, a grinding tool may comprise a housing including a mount, a shaft extending from the mount along a drive axis, where the shaft is configured to support a grinding wheel for rotation about the drive axis, and a guard coupled to the mount. The guard may comprise a central ring extending around the mount, a shroud extending radially outward from the central ring along a first portion of a circumference of the central ring, and a standoff coupled to a second portion of the circumference of the central ring. The standoff may extend from the central ring along a direction substantially parallel to the drive axis such that the standoff limits rotation of the guard about a tipping axis that is substantially perpendicular to the drive axis.

A swinging weight assembly for an impact tool includes an anvil having an impact jaw that is reinforced with a circumferential flange. A hammer includes a hammer lug and a cam lug for pivoting the hammer between an engaged position in which the hammer lug strikes the impact jaw and a disengaged position in which the hammer moves past the impact jaw. The cam lug is separated from the cam lug to define a space in which the reinforcing flange is received.

A tool housing which in one aspect includes a body defining a head portion with a handle portion depending therefrom to define a forward and/or a rear junction. A metal reinforcing member is configured to span along an inside surface of the body from the head portion to the handle portion such that the reinforcing member bridges either the forward or rear junction. In another aspect, the tool assembly comprises a tool housing body, a motor positioned within the tool body housing, a drive mechanism connected with the motor to define a unitary motor/drive mechanism assembly, and at least one elastic isolating member extending about a portion of the motor/drive mechanism assembly such that the motor/drive mechanism assembly is elastically isolated relative to the housing body.

An impact mechanism includes a shaft, a hammer and an anvil coupled to the hammer. The shaft has a first helical groove and the hammer has a second helical groove. A ball is received in the first and second helical grooves to rotationally couple the hammer to the shaft and permit axial travel of the hammer relative to the shaft. An axial stop inhibits axial travel of the hammer along a first travel path and permits axial travel of the hammer along a second travel path. The axial stop includes first and second stop members, the first and second stop members having a first relative position to inhibit axial travel of the hammer and a second relative position to permit axial travel of the hammer.

A battery pack attachment arrangement comprising a tool having a housing defining a hollow area and an opening into the hollow area. A first support track is defined within the housing hollow area. A battery pack includes a main body and a stem portion extending from the main body. A first key extends radially from the battery pack stem portion. The first key is configured to be received axially through a first keyway and thereafter rotated along the first support track from a first portion to a second portion such that the first key supports the battery pack relative to the housing.
