Systems and methods are provided for voice call optimization. Methods include receiving a request to initiate a voice call from a wireless device configured to connect to a WLAN of a wireless gateway device. In response to receiving the request, the method includes determining an organizationally unique identifier (OUI) of the wireless gateway device and searching a database containing organizationally unique identifiers (OUIs) for the OUI of the wireless gateway device. The method further includes executing the voice call over a cellular network without using the wireless gateway device upon finding the OUI of the wireless gateway device in the database.

Voice over Wi-Fi avoidance on gateway devices

A telecommunication network limits bandwidth usage for devices associated with lower service priority levels, thus conserving physical resources for use by devices with higher service priority levels. Low priority devices can include mobile virtual network operator (MVNO) devices, roaming devices, Internet of Things (IoT) devices, and/or the like. The telecommunication network enforces the limited bandwidth usage if a low priority device is capable of using channel subdivisions (e.g., bandwidth parts (BWPs)), and this device capability is communicated during a UE capability exchange that occurs during a registration process. Core network functions provide a policy that specifies a limited channel bandwidth for a capable low-priority device to a network node of the telecommunication network to which the wireless device is communicably coupled. The network node configures the wireless device to use the limited channel bandwidth according to the policy.

Systems, methods, and process nodes for managing bandwidth in a telecommunications network include or implement operations of receiving a connection request from a wireless communication device capable of communication in a first band having a first frequency and in a second band having a second frequency; receiving a capability report from the wireless communication device; and in response to a determination that the capability report meets a criteria, assigning the wireless communication device to communicate in the second band.

System and method for bandwidth management based on UE capability

A method for provisioning a communication device with an embedded subscriber identity module (eSIM) profile. The method includes releasing a first eSIM profile by an eSIM management server hosting a plurality of unallocated eSIM profiles, and registering the release of the first eSIM profile by a discovery server. The method additionally includes requesting at least some of the information related to the release of the first eSIM profile from the discovery server, wherein the request includes an international mobile equipment identity (IMEI) of the communication device, and retrieving an address of the eSIM management server by the discovery server based on the IMEI. The method further includes providing the address to a local provisioning assistant (LPA) of the communication device by the discovery server, and provisioning the communication device with the first eSIM profile from the eSIM management server by the LPA of the communication device.

Systems and methods for provisioning user equipment with an eSIM profile

The technology disclosed herein relates to antenna beam directivity corresponding to one or more non-terrestrial access nodes. For example, a user device having antenna elements and a sensor can determine an orientation of the user device and transmit one or more signals from one or more antenna elements based on the orientation of the user device. In embodiments, the user device can transmit signals towards a non-terrestrial access node, towards a portion of an atmosphere layer of the Earth, away from a gravitational force of the Earth, towards outer space, in another non-terrestrial direction, or one or more combinations thereof. In some embodiments, the user device uses one or more accelerometers and/or one or more other sensors for determining the orientation of the user device relative to the antenna elements of the device, the gravitational force of the Earth, a geomagnetic field, another direction, or one or more combinations thereof.

A method includes receiving, by an equipment identity register application in the target mobile network, an International Mobile Equipment Identity (IMEI) of a user equipment (UE) associated with the subscriber and a Subscriber Identity Module (SIM) identifier (ID) identifying an inactive SIM card inserted into the UE or an inactive electronic SIM (eSIM) profile installed at the UE, determining that the UE is attempting to attach to the target mobile network for a first time based on the IMEI and the SIM ID, adding an event to an event queue of the target mobile network, and processing the event by accessing subscriber data stored at the source mobile network to validate that the IMEI of the UE is indicated in the subscriber data stored at the source mobile network, wherein the subscriber data includes a subscriber account indicated by the IMEI of the UE.

In various examples, a user seeking to switch network providers may reserve an eSIM profile through touch selection of the display of a UE, which causes encoding and transmission of an identifier associated with the UE to a network operator. As a result, human error both in transmitting and receiving the identifier needed to reserve an eSIM profile is eliminated. And the time needed to identify and transmit the identifier is significantly reduced in comparison to orally conveying the identifier to a customer services representative or keying in the identifier, and then verifying the identifier with the representative.

A mechanism for sharing electronic subscriber identity module (eSIM) credentials between two mobile communication devices is described. This includes establishing, by a source user equipment (UE) comprising a first of the mobile communication devices, a data connection with a subscription manager data preparation (SMDP+) server associated with eSIM credentials stored at the source UE. The source UE notifies the SMDP+ server of an intent to transfer the eSIM credentials. The source UE receives metadata describing an activation code containing identification data for the eSIM credentials. The source UE forwards the activation code to a destination UE comprising a second of the mobile communication devices. The activation code is forwarded to support a download of the eSIM credentials to the destination UE from the SMDP+ server.

A method of provisioning an eUICC of a mobile communication device. The method comprises sending a GSMA confirm order request from an eUICC provisioning application executing on a computer system to a SM-DP+ server, wherein the confirm order comprises an ICCID and a FQDN of a discovery server; in response to receiving a GSMA confirm order response indicating a failure of the discovery server, determining by the eUICC provisioning application that a mobile communication device associated with the ICCID is configured with an LPA application that is able to complete an alternative eSIM profile provisioning process using a scanning device to capture an activation code; generating an activation code by the eUICC provisioning application that encodes an address of the SM-DP+ server and the ICCID; and sending the activation code by the eUICC provisioning application to an email account associated with a user of the mobile communication device.

A method and system for controlling how many carriers to aggregate together for carrier-aggregation service of a UE. A base station could take into account how many MIMO layers a UE would support respectively for each of various candidate quantities of carriers, and the base station could select the candidate quantity of carriers that would result in use of a highest aggregate total number of MIMO layers. Further, the selection could involve mapping UE-reported rank to a quantity of carriers, with the rank being inversely proportional to the selected quantity of carriers. The base station could then configure carrier-aggregation service of the UE with the selected quantity of carriers.

A method of sharing electronic subscriber identity module (eSIM) credentials between two mobile communication devices. The method comprises changing a state of an eSIM of the first device by an eSIM sharing application executing on the first device to a transfer-in-progress state, transmitting eSIM credentials to the second device via a peer-to-peer wireless communication link by the eSIM sharing application, where the eSIM sharing application reads the eSIM credentials from the eSIM of the first device, changing a state of the eSIM of the first device by the eSIM sharing application to a disabled-transferred state, and transmitting a disabled-transferred message to the second device via the peer-to-peer wireless communication link by the eSIM sharing application, whereby the second device is enabled to communicate on a cellular wireless communication network based on authentication using the eSIM credentials transmitted by the first device.

A mechanism of obtaining electronic subscriber identity module (eSIM) credentials from an inactive mobile communication device is described. This includes communicating, by an active mobile communication device, with an inactive mobile communication device via a peer-to-peer wireless interface. The active mobile communication device receives identification data for the eSIM credentials as stored in the inactive mobile communication device. The active mobile communication device transmits the identification data for the eSIM credentials to a subscription manager data preparation (SMDP+) server. The active mobile communication device also receives the eSIM credentials from the SMDP+ server.
