The present disclosure relates to a high transmittance eyewear. The high transmittance eyewear can include a lens with a chroma enhancement filter. The lens can have a front surface and a rear surface. The high transmittance eyewear can further include a transmittance enhancement layer disposed over the front surface of the lens. The high transmittance eyewear that includes the transmittance enhancement layer and the chroma enhancement filter can provide a high optical transparency (e.g., a high optical transmittance) for the wearer for an indoor or a driving use while maintaining a chroma enhancement capability provided by the chroma enhancement filter.

Some embodiments provide a lens including a lens body and an optical filter configured to attenuate visible light in a plurality of spectral bands. Each of the plurality of spectral bands can include an absorptance peak with a spectral bandwidth, a maximum absorptance, and an integrated absorptance peak area within the spectral bandwidth. An attenuation factor obtained by dividing the integrated absorptance peak area within the spectral bandwidth by the spectral bandwidth of the absorptance peak can be greater than or equal to about 0.8 for the absorptance peak in each of the plurality of spectral bands.

Eyewear with chroma enhancement

Embodiments disclosed herein include eyewear that provides controlled variable light attenuation and color enhancement based on an input received from a user, a sensor and/or a signal from a control circuit. In some embodiments, the eyewear includes an optical filter system with two or more defined filter states that are adapted to improve color vision in different environments. The optical filter system can be incorporated into a lens having any desired curvature, including, for example, cylindrical, spherical or toroidal. The lens can include one or more functional components. Examples of functional components include color enhancement filters, chroma enhancement filters, a laser attenuation filter, electrochromic filters, photoelectrochromic filters, variable attenuation filters, anti-reflection coatings, interference stacks, hard coatings, flash mirrors, anti-static coatings, anti-fog coatings, other functional layers, or a combination of functional layers.

Eyewear with variable optical characteristics

A variable compression cushion for eyewear includes a lattice structure made up of lattice cells defined by lattice elements. The parameters of the lattice structure may be configured to create a desired compressibility in the cushion. Different zones of the cushion may have different compressibility. The variable compressibility enables the cushion to be configured to optimize the face pressure experienced by a user when the eyewear is worn to enhance the comfort of the user. Some embodiments of the cushion also include structures to improve ventilation through the cushion. Some embodiments of the cushion also include structures that channel moisture away from the portion of the cushion that contacts the face of the user to improve user comfort.

Some embodiments provide a lens including a lens body and an optical filter configured to attenuate visible light in certain spectral bands. At least some of the spectral bands can include spectral features that tend to substantially increase the colorfulness, clarity, and/or vividness of a scene. In certain embodiments, eyewear incorporates an optical filter that enhances chroma within one or more spectral bands. In some embodiments, a wearer of the eyewear can perceive the increase in chroma when viewing at least certain types of scenes.

A frameless goggle with a lens that is structurally self-supporting without any external support from a frame, chassis, or other, similar components. The resulting goggle is more streamlined and has fewer parts to manufacture and assemble. In some embodiments, the goggle lens includes an integral support portion that improves the stiffness and strength of the lens.

A modular, wearable electronic system is disclosed. The modular, wearable electronic system can include an eyewear unit which can be worn on a user's head and one or more modular units which can removably couple with the eyewear unit via one or more ports and/or connectors. The eyewear unit and the modular unit can communicate with each other via the port or connector to which the eyewear unit and the modular unit are coupled. The modular units can supplement the functionality of the eyewear unit.

Modular wearable electronic devices, systems, and methods

Embodiments disclosed herein include eyewear that has one or more laminates applied to a lens body. In some embodiments, the lens body is constructed from a substantially rigid material having a curved shape. The lens body can have any desired curvature, including, for example, cylindrical, spherical or toroidal. A laminate can include a substantially flexible substrate and one or more functional layers or coatings applied to the substrate. In addition, one or more functional layers or coatings can be applied directly to the lens body. In certain embodiments, a bonding layer bonds a laminate to a convex and/or concave surface of the lens body. Examples of functional layers or coatings that can be applied to a laminate include anti-reflection coatings, interference stacks, hard coatings, flash mirrors, anti-static coatings, anti-fog coatings, other functional layers, or a combination of functional layers.

Eyewear lenses for frameless eyewear may include a stiffening member configured to increase the stiffness of the eyewear lens. The stiffening member may be an integral part of the lens and extend along the upper portion of the lens. At least a portion of the stiffening member may extend forward of a corresponding point on the front surface of the lens. The stiffening member may have different dimensions and cross sections, based on, for example, the stiffening enhancement needed and aesthetic considerations. The stiffening member may be designed to improve the moment of inertia of the eyewear lens to a desired value when compared to an otherwise identical lens without a stiffening member. The increased stiffness caused by the stiffening member may also be designed to achieve a target head force on the head of a user when the eyewear lens is integrated into eyewear.

The system includes an input for receiving data representative of a three dimensional configuration of a portion of a wearer's face and an input for receiving data representative of a desired position where the wearer would like an eyewear frame to reside on the wearer's face. One system also includes a processor for determining a change in configuration of an eyewear component blank to allow the eyewear frame to reside in the desired position, and an eyewear component modifier for modifying the eyewear component blank so that the frame will reside in the desired position.
