Agricultural machines utilize global positioning systems (GPS) to acquire the location of the machine as well as the location of an event, which may be based upon an operation of the agricultural machine. Because of the possibility of outage and/or inaccuracy of the GPS, a GPS augmentation system can be included with the agricultural machine. The GPS augmentation system can supplement the location determination of the GPS, or can be used in place of the GPS when the GPS is not available. An unmanned vehicle can also be used as part of the augmentation system to provide additional information for the location of the agricultural machine and/or the event.

Agricultural electronics include many components. The components can be connected via an electronic link that connects the various components to components of an agricultural implement. This can include the use of a component type identifier and a master module. The identifier and the module can communicate data, including identification data and instructional data, to easily acknowledge and operate various electrical components of the agricultural implement. Additional sensors can be included to provide even additional data that is communicated between the module and the components of the agricultural implement to aid in providing instructions for operation and to provide additional data information.

Continued and precise operation of an agricultural implement exists even where a subsystem, such as a GPS receiver, wireless communicator, a sensor, or the like, fails, falters, or is otherwise unusable. Data is continually tracked to the extent possible during failure or faltering and is temporarily stored. The temporary data is later stitched or otherwise harmonized with historical data once the failing system is repaired or otherwise once again available. During failure or faltering, views, and even mapped views, of historical and real-time data are displayed. Predicted or anticipated data can be included within these views or can even be used when stitching.

Continued and precise operation of an agricultural implement exists even where a subsystem, such as a GPS receiver, wireless communicator, a sensor, or the like, fails, falters, or is otherwise unusable. Data is continually tracked to the extent possible during failure or faltering and is temporarily stored. To continue operations during periods of unavailability, a representation of planted ground is anticipated by other agricultural implements and/or calculated with agricultural data from other agricultural implements. Normal operations then continue until data sync can catch back up to real-time.

Wireless peripherals may be used by workers to facilitate communication, data entry, data visualization, safety, and security. Typically, these peripherals must communicate with a back-end system; however, direct communication is often impossible. Instead, the peripherals must communicate through an intermediary device (i.e., a base station) to reach the back-end system. To be most effective, the back-end system must be able to adapt its communication/response to a worker's identity, location, and/or peripherals. To facilitate this, the present invention embraces a peripheral hub, worn by a worker. The peripheral hub uses information regarding the worker and/or his peripherals to generate a peripheral manifest. The peripheral hub can transmit the peripheral manifest to the back-end system via the base station, and using information from the peripheral manifest, the back-end system may communicate/respond appropriately to the worker.

An active exit system may include one or more active exit signs, each exit sign having at least one sensor, a display, and a transceiver. Each active exit sign monitors building environmental conditions, monitors the locations of users and objects within the building, and assists in location services during normal operation. The exit signs transmit a dynamic exit plan to a user's electronic device based on the user's location. In response to sensing an emergency event, the exit sign transmits an emergency signal to the user's electronic device and updates a user's exit plan as needed based on the location of the emergency event. The exit sign also transmits user location information to emergency responders.

A presentation of visual information relates to an accurate identity of a person. Visible data corresponding to the identity is rendered upon a wearable badge associated uniquely with the person. The rendered visible data are augmented dynamically. The augmentation includes adding a conspicuous indication to the rendered visible data, in real time, that an authorized security credential corresponding to the person is exceeded in relation to a presence of the person in a particular location.

A mobile computing device may be configured to run more than one operating system. Each operating system may require one or more specialized buttons to perform or enable various functions. The layout, shape, and function corresponding the buttons for each operating system may be unique. Adapting the buttons for a particular operating system may be accomplished by using soft buttons displayed as part of the graphical user interface. Here, however, valuable display area must be dedicated to the buttons. Another adaptation approach requires reconfiguring the hardware. Both approaches have drawbacks. In the invention disclosed, two sets of hardware buttons are incorporated in the same touch panel. Enabling a button is based on the choice of operating system. Enabled buttons are visible and operable while not enabled buttons or not visible and not operable. In this way, the hardware buttons in the mobile computing device may be reconfigured without using display area and without requiring hardware disassembly.

The present invention enables users of wireless devices to configure a service by automatic connection through the use of a local environmental indication of an identification code such as a barcode. The identification code represents a service that is a labor carried out among a group of two or more devices for the benefit of one or more devices in the group. An indication of an identification code is input to at least one device representing a service over a wireless link among at least a first and second device. At least one service relationship such as sender, receiver, transceiver, or relay is identified for each of a first and second device, and the devices are automatically configured into their respective service relationships utilizing the identification code.
