An acid-generating fluid includes a thermally activated strong acid precursor. The thermally activated strong acid precursor can include a component selected from aldehydes, ketones, and combinations thereof, in combination with a precursor of a compound adapted to react to liberate sulfur dioxide; or it can include sulfur dioxide in combination with a precursor of a compound adapted to react to liberate a component selected from aldehydes, ketones, and combinations thereof.

Inducibly degradable polyacetal compositions for use in subterranean formations

An acid-generating fluid comprising a thermally activated strong acid precursor is provided in the method of the present invention. The thermally activated strong acid precursor comprises sulfur dioxide or a first precursor of a compound adapted to react to liberate sulfur dioxide, and an aldehyde and/or a ketone or a second precursor of a compound adapted to react to liberate an aldehyde and/or ketone. The acid-generating fluid is placed into a subterranean formation, where the first precursor and/or the second precursor are thermally activated, thereby liberating sulfur dioxide and the aldehyde and/or ketone. The sulfur dioxide and the aldehyde and/or ketone are reacted to form a thermally activated strong acid.

Methods comprising providing a drill-in fluid including an aqueous carrier fluid, a surfactant; and a self-degradable filter cake-forming agent which includes a plurality of degradable particulates which are operable to form an acid upon degradation, and a plurality of acid-degradable particulates. Drilling a wellbore through a reservoir section of a subterranean formation with the drill-in fluid, forming a thin internal filter cake within the wellbore from the self-degradable filter cake-forming agent. Releasing an acid derivative from at least a portion of the plurality of degradable particulates, interacting the acid with the filter cake so as to at least partially degrade the acid-degradable particulates therein. Thereby at least partially removing the filter cake allowing quick lift off of the remaining particulates, and producing a hydrocarbon fluid or gas from the subterranean formation.

Predicting subterranean formation damages from deformable additives in treatment fluids may include measuring exponential shear values for samples comprising a base fluid and at least one deformable additive. Then the relative pore plugging propensity of the deformable additives may be determined by comparing the exponential shear values or rheological values derived therefrom from either two or more deformable additives to each other or from one or more deformable additives to a pore plugging propensity scale.

Methods relating to predicting subterranean formation damage from deformable additives

Compositions and methods relating to treatment fluids that comprise entangled equilibrium polymer networks in subterranean applications. Such methods include providing a treatment fluid comprising at least one entangled equilibrium polymer network, and placing the treatment fluid in a subterranean formation. Other methods include providing a treatment fluid having a first viscosity comprising an aqueous base fluid and at least one entangled equilibrium polymer network; placing the treatment fluid in a subterranean formation; contacting the treatment fluid with a hydrocarbon; and allowing the viscosity of the treatment fluid to decrease to a second viscosity that is lower than the first viscosity.

Polymeric additives used with viscoelastic surfactants, fluids comprising such additives and viscoelastic surfactants, and associated methods of use, are provided. In one embodiment, the methods comprise: providing a treatment fluid that comprises an aqueous base fluid, a viscoelastic surfactant, and an amphiphilic polymer, the amphiphilic polymer comprising a hydrophobic component, and a hydrophilic component comprising at least 15 monomer units; and introducing the treatment fluid into at least a portion of a subterranean formation.

A method of servicing a wellbore comprising placing an oil-based wellbore servicing fluid comprising an electrical conductivity enhancer into the wellbore and logging the wellbore by resistivity imaging. A method of servicing a wellbore comprising introducing an oil-based drilling fluid to a wellbore, identifying a subsection of the wellbore for imaging, introducing to the subsection of the wellbore a oil-based wellbore servicing fluid comprising a carbon nanotube wherein the servicing fluid comprising the electrical conductivity enhancer mixes with the oil-based drilling fluid; and imaging the subsection of the wellbore.

Electrically conductive oil-based drilling fluids

A subterranean treatment additive comprising a viscoelastic surfactant and an amphiphilic polymer. Wherein the amphiphilic polymer comprises a hydrophobic component, and a hydrophilic component, the hydrophilic component itself comprising at least 15 monomer units. The subterranean treatment additive may be used as part of a treatment fluid with an aqueous base fluid that may be a brine.

Of the many embodiments provided herein, one embodiment includes a method comprising: providing a drilling fluid comprising: an aqueous fluid; and a surfactant; and drilling a well bore in a subterranean formation comprising an oleaginous fluid using the drilling fluid, wherein the surfactant forms a micelle within the well bore; and removing an oil block in the formation.

Surfactant additives used to retain producibility while drilling

Treatment fluids may include an aqueous fluid, a microemulsion surfactant, and an amphiphilic polymer that itself includes a hydrophobic component and a hydrophilic component. Such treatment fluids may be utilized in subterranean formations such that the microemulsion surfactant forms a microemulsion that comprises the amphiphilic polymer within the subterranean formation.
