Examples include an exhaust manifold assembly for an internal combustion engine, the exhaust manifold assembly optionally including: an inner housing configured to receive an exhaust gas from a cylinder head of the internal combustion engine; an outer housing receiving at least a portion of the inner housing, wherein the outer housing is configured to receive a coolant flow that passes over the at least the portion of the inner housing; and a plurality of manifold flanges coupled to the outer housing and configured to mount on the cylinder head, wherein at least one of the plurality of manifold flanges has a sleeve portion forming a passage that receives a part of the inner housing therein and receives the coolant flow.

Exhaust manifold assembly for internal combustion engine

This disclosure describes, in part, systems and structures for an exhaust assembly that includes an exhaust tube and a coolant passage. The exhaust tube is oriented about an axis and an exhaust gas is configured to flow through the exhaust tube in a direction away from an end of the exhaust tube. The coolant passage is oriented about the axis radially outward of the exhaust tube, the coolant passage having an inner shell and an outer shell. The heat capacity of the volume of the coolant contained within the coolant passage is above a threshold ratio of a heat capacitance of a radiation shield, exhaust tube, and inner shell of the coolant passage to prevent coolant boiling after shutdown.

An actuation system for a valve is disclosed. The actuation system comprises a housing having an end wall. A first piston and a second piston is slidably positioned within the housing. The second piston is positioned between the first piston and the end wall. A piston rod is coupled to the first piston and slidably extends through the second piston and the end wall. The piston rod is configured to be coupled with the valve. A first spring is arranged between the first piston and the second piston. Further, a second spring is arranged between the second piston and the end wall. The first spring and the second spring are configured to bias the valve to a closed position.
