Receiving a plurality of concurrent incoming requests from the plurality of services, with each incoming request and each service subscribing to a topic in a shared message queue. The queue is used for: notifying other subscribers when a request to a back-end service is being made; and/or notifying other subscribers when a response from the back-end service is received.

Concurrency reduction through publish-subscribe patterns

Methods, computer program products, and systems are presented. The method, computer program products, and systems can include, for instance: obtaining position data for a plurality of mobile devices, wherein mobile devices of the plurality of mobile devices have associated identifiers, and wherein the obtained position data is data that has been derived using wirelessly emitted signals; examining data of the position data to determine that one or more user is present within a neighboring zone of a venue, the neighboring zone being a zone that neighbors a certain zone of the venue; predicting that at least one user of the one or more user within the neighboring zone intends to be in the certain zone; specifying a zone association of the at least one user as the certain zone of the venue; and providing one or more output based on the specifying.

Eliminating false positives of neighboring zones

Approaches presented herein enable providing a group-based purchasing incentive related to a product or service at a retail store to a customer among a group of customers contingent on an action being performed by a predefined number of members from the group. Specifically, a customer in a retail store is identified as part of a group of customers. A notification of a group-based purchasing incentive offer is transmitted to a mobile device of the identified customer. The offer is contingent on a specified number of other customers in the group performing an action. When the specified number of other customers in the group have performed the action, the group-based purchasing incentive is provided to the identified customer.

Group-based purchasing incentives

Reducing concurrency in a system comprising a plurality of services sending a plurality of concurrent requests to a back-end service through a concurrency reduction service. The concurrency reduction service maps each concurrent incoming request to a key; and determines if the key to which the concurrent incoming request is mapped matches a key mapped from another concurrent incoming request from the plurality of concurrent requests. If the key to which the concurrent incoming request is mapped matches a key mapped from at least one other concurrent incoming request from the plurality of concurrent requests, then the service groups the concurrent incoming request with the at least one other concurrent incoming request to be sent to the back-end service. The concurrency reduction service sends one outgoing request to the back-end service for each of the keys to which the plurality of concurrent incoming requests were mapped.
