An electronic device includes a processor that performs a basic input/output system (BIOS) process to initialize hardware of the electronic device upon a first start up. The processor determines, within the BIOS process, that initialization of an operating system (OS) on the electronic device has not been performed. The processor waits to receive a user input indicating that the user is ready to initialize the OS, thus protecting the OS initialization process from unintended interruptions such as power loss that can cause the OS initialization to fail irreparably. Upon receiving the user input, the processor begins the OS initialization.

Basic input/output system (BIOS) boot check

An optical fiber cord management system and method is provided to monitor and manage optical fiber cords locations in telecommunication equipment. The system may comprise an antenna to receive a radio signal propagated from an optical fiber cord, and a processor, in communication with the antenna, to receive radio signal data. The processor may determine if the radio signal data matches a modulated radio signal. If the processor determines that the radio signal data associated with the radio signal matches the modulated radio signal, the processor causes a luminescent member to illuminate.

Optical fiber location tracking system

An isolation device includes an upper portion, a lower portion, and an isolation area. At least one of the upper and lower portions is constructed with a flexible shielding material. The isolation device may also include a conduit having one opening in the isolation area and another opening outside the isolation area.

Flexible isolation device that shields EMI sensitive devices from outside interference

A selected length of antenna for a device under test is placed within a conductive inner cylinder, forming an unterminated &ldquo;input&rdquo; coaxial transmission line. The inner cylinder is in turn within and coaxial with a conductive outer cylinder, forming an &ldquo;output&rdquo; transmission line. The inner cylinder is the center conductor of the output transmission line, and in a region extending beyond the extent of the antenna therein, conically tapers to being a normal center conductor of solid cross section. The outer cylinder matches this taper to maintain a constant characteristic impedance Z,(say, 50 &OHgr;) for the output transmission line, which then delivers its output signal to a matched terminating load in measurement equipment via either a coaxial connector or an interconnecting length of auxiliary transmission line. These triaxially nested input and output transmission lines are supported at a driven end by an RF tight box that contains a mounting fixture to support the device under test in a fixed and appropriate relation to the triaxially nested input and output transmission lines, and that is lined with anechoic RF absorbing material.
