Techniques are described for automating the configuration of a simple network management protocol (SNMP) manager device for enabling collection of SNMP data from one or more SNMP-enabled devices. Based upon SNMP object identifiers (OIDs) received from an SNMP-enabled device, processing is performed to map the OIDs to one or more SNMP management information bases (MIBs) corresponding to the OIDs. The identification of the OIDs and mapping the OIDs to one or more MIBs is performed in an automated manner and substantially free of any human or manual intervention. The identified one or more MIBs are then used to configure the SNMP manager to enable SNMP communications between the SNMP-enabled device and the SNMP manager. In certain implementations, the identified one or more MIBs are loaded into system memory by the SNMP manager.

Described are techniques for evaluating technology add-ons used with a data intake and query system to identify errors that may be present in or associated with configuration files defining the functions of the technology add-on or with operation of the technology add-on. For example, the technology add-on may be used to provide searching of event data stored by the data intake and query system using a late-binding schema, where the technology add-on provides for formalized interpretation of non-standard event data according to a user- or vendor-defined scheme. The disclosed techniques can identify errors and determine if the technology add-on is compliant with a schema definition for a common information model.

Transmission handling of analytics query response includes a search head, in a data intake and query system, receiving a query from an analytics system. The search head distributes at least a portion of the query to at least one indexer for processing the query. The at least one indexer transmits, bypassing the search head, and to the analytics system, events matching the query. The search head receives from the at least one indexer, data regarding the events, and sends the data regarding the events to the analytics system.
