An electrosurgical device: forceps having: a first working arm, a second working arm, wherein the electrosurgical device has a first electrosurgical configuration where the first working arm and the second working arm are in an opposed position so that the forceps deliver a first therapy current that flows between the first working arm and the second working arm; and wherein the electrosurgical device has a second electrosurgical configuration when the first working arm, the second working arm, or both are repositionable relative to each other so that the first working arm is extended with respect to the second working arm or vice versa and a second therapy current is delivered from the first working arm to a remote electrode.

Combination electrosurgical device

An electrosurgical forceps comprising: (a.) a pair of working arms comprising; (i.) a first working arm and a second working arm, each of the first working arm and the second working arm having an inner surface; (ii.) one or more electrodes located on the inner surface of the first working arm, the second working arm, or both; and (b.) a selectively engageable activation system comprising; (i.) a control unit; (ii.) an activation switch; and (iii.) a disengagement mechanism; wherein the first working arm and the second working arm are laterally movable relative to each other so that the activation switch is actuated when the disengagement mechanism is in an engaged position by closing the first working arm and the second working arm together, sending a signal to the control unit, which in turn sends a therapy signal to the one or more electrodes; wherein when the disengagement mechanism is in a disengagement position and the working arms are closed, the therapy signal is prevented from being sent from the control unit to the one or more electrodes.

A surgical device comprising: (a) a stylet comprising: one or more support rods; (b) a hand piece comprising: one or more housing structures defining a cavity; and one or more actuating mechanisms comprising: one or more levers attached to one or more pivot axes in the hand piece and configured to form one or more slidable joints in communication with the one or more support rods; wherein the one or more levers are configured to be assembled by: being placed into the hand piece along the assembly direction before the stylet so the stylet may be placed into the hand piece over the one or more levers; or being placed into the hand piece along the assembly direction after the stylet so the one or more levers is placed into the hand piece over the stylet and in communication with the stylet.

A surgical device includes a forceps and a blade. The forceps includes a first working jaw and a second working jaw. The blade extends along a longitudinal axis and includes a notched section. The blade is located between the first working jaw and the second working jaw. A first therapy current can be connected to the first working jaw, the second working jaw, or both so that tissue gripped between the first working jaw and the second working jaw and within the notched section can be coagulated. While the tissue is gripped between the first working jaw and the second working jaw, the blade is moveable along its longitudinal axis so that the tissue is cut with the notched section without repositioning the first working jaw, the second working jaw, or both.

A device comprising: a a pair of arms; a blade; and a blade extending mechanism including detent positions where the blade is locked into a position related to each of the detent positions. A combination medical includes a first arm and a second arm interconnected to the first arm. The first arm and the second arm are biased towards each other by a closing force. A biasing member is disposed between the first arm and the second arm. The biasing member has a first position that biases the first arm and the second arm away from each other against the closing force and a second position that does not oppose the closing force. The combination medical device may be an electrosurgical device with a mono-polar and bi-polar configuration.

The disclosure describes an electrosurgical device comprising: forceps including: a first and a second working arm; a blade; wherein the device is switchable between: (A) a first configuration where the first and second working arms move towards each other to grasp tissue therebetween; (B) a second configuration where the first and second working arms are secured together to prevent movement of the first and second working arm towards each other; and (C) a third configuration where the first and second working arms are secured together and are prevented from moving towards each other, and the blade is substantially flush with or extends beyond a distal end of the first and second working arms; and wherein the device delivers a bipolar current, and prevents current from flowing from the blade when in the first configuration and the second configuration; and delivers current through the blade when in the third configuration.
