A system and method for creating a cavity with a drill assembly provides a powered drill shaft assembly having an articulating tip and a position sensor along the drill shaft; a drill motor assembly with a rotational motor, linear actuator, torque sensor, rotation sensor, electrical resistance sensor and a controller unit having a plurality of programs providing user interface and controlling the operation of the powered drill arrangement; a shroud for the drill shaft with a water port; and a computer software package that combines user specifications with sensor data to control activation and displacement of the drill with a user interface, controls the motor for rotational speed and drilling depth, and gives sensor status, and a display displaying status of a drilling procedure and an image from an imaging device, and that is programmable for a set of parameters for a drilling procedure.

System and method for forming a cavity in soft tissue and bone

Devices and methods are disclosed for remote clinical monitoring performance of exercises using a smart resistance exercise device including a resistance band, a first handle connected to a first end of the resistance band and a second handle connected to a second end of the resistance band, a force sensing assembly operably coupled to the resistance band, and a local receiving device communicatively coupled to the force sensing assembly. The force sensing assembly of the device includes a housing, and a force sensor disposed in the housing and operatively connected to the resistance band to measure a force exerted on the resistance band. The force sensing assembly also includes a processing and communication module communicatively coupled to the force sensor to receive measurements of the force sensor and communicatively coupled to the local receiving device to transmit the measurements to the local receiving device.

A microcontroller for recording and storing physiological data includes an analog-to-digital converter for converting analog physiological sensor signals to digital signals, a sample buffer for holding a temporal sequence of the digital signals, a central processing unit (CPU), and a non-volatile memory. The non-volatile memory includes (i) a code storage encoding machine-readable data compression instructions that, when executed by the CPU, control the CPU to (a) transform the temporal sequence of the digital signals to produce transformed physiological data characterized by a set of transformation coefficients and (b) compress the set of transformation coefficients to generate compressed physiological data, and (ii) a data storage configured to contain several different instances of the compressed physiological data respectively associated with several different instances of the temporal sequence of the digital signals.

A surgical vision system for imaging heat capacity and cooling rate of tissue has an infrared source configured to provide infrared light to tissue, the infrared light sufficient to heat tissue, and an infrared camera configured to provide images of tissue at infrared wavelengths. The system also has an image processing system configured to determine, from the infrared images of tissue, a cooling or heating rate at pixels of the images of tissue at infrared wavelengths and to display images derived from the cooling rate at the pixels.

A method for cardiovascular-dynamics correlated imaging includes receiving a time series of images of at least a portion of a patient, receiving a time series of cardiovascular data for the patient, evaluating correlation between the time series of images and the time series of cardiovascular data, and determining a property of the at least a portion of a patient, based upon the correlation. A system for cardiovascular-dynamics correlated imaging includes a processing device having: a processor, a memory communicatively coupled therewith, and a correlation module including machine-readable instructions stored in the memory that, when executed by the processor, perform the function of correlating a time series of images of at least a portion of a patient with a time series of cardiovascular data of the patient to determine a property of the at least a portion of a patient.

Systems and methods for cardiovascular-dynamics correlated imaging

A dental drill system with electrical-impedance sensing indicates when a bit of the drill system approaches cortical-cancellous bone, or bone-soft tissue interfaces. The drill system has a dental drill handset having a cannula bearing electrically coupled to a drilling bit, the drilling bit having an electrically insulated portion and an exposed portion. The cannula bearing is coupled to an electrical impedance spectroscopy sensing device configured to measure impedance between the cannula bearing of the dental drill handset and a ground plate, and a processing system uses EIS measurements to distinguish when the bit of the drill system approaches cortical- or cancellous bone, or bone-soft tissue interfaces.

A support rig for a medical instrument can hold a medical instrument that is inserted into a patient in a fixed position and orientation relative to patient, so that the position and orientation of the medical instrument is not affected by the breathing or other motion of the patient. The support rig and medical instrument can non-metallic, so that an image can be taken of the patient while the medical instrument is inserted in the patent and held by the support rig.

System and method of laryngoscopy surgery and imaging

A wearable master electronic device (Amulet) has a processor with memory, the processor coupled to a body-area network (BAN) radio and uplink radio. The device has firmware for BAN communications with wearable nodes to receive data, and in an embodiment, send configuration data. The device has firmware for using the uplink radio to download apps and configurations, and upload data to a server. An embodiment has accelerometers in Amulet and wearable node, and firmware for using accelerometer readings to determine if node and Amulet are worn by the same subject. Other embodiments use pulse sensors or microphones in the Amulet and node to both identify a subject and verify the Amulet and node are worn by the same subject. Another embodiment uses a bioimpedance sensor to identify the subject. The wearable node may be an insulin pump, chemotherapy pump, TENS unit, cardiac monitor, or other device.
