An audio enhanced hearing protection system to be worn by a user includes an ambient noise reduction assembly having a primary noise reduction unit and a secondary noise reduction unit. The audio enhanced hearing protection system also includes an audio input assembly having one or more environmental microphones to receive raw environmental audio signals. The raw audio signals are transformed into processed audio signals via a digital signal processing assembly prior to transmission to a user. The audio enhanced hearing protection system also includes an audio output assembly having at least one speaker to transmit processed audio signals to a user.

The present invention provides for methods and systems for digitally processing an audio signal to reproduce high quality sounds on various materials. In various embodiments, a method comprises filtering the signal with a low shelf filter and/or high shelf filter, passing the signal through a first compressor that, filtering the signal again with a low shelf filter and/or high shelf filter, processing the signal with a graphic equalizer based on a selected material profile, passing the signal through a second compressor, and outputting the signal to a transducer.

The present invention relates to a noise reduction assembly for auscultation of a body. An embodiment of the assembly includes an auscultation device formed of a first material and having a proximal end for engagement with the body when the auscultation device is in an operative orientation. The present invention provides for systems and methods for acquiring acoustic information from a resonating body. Specifically, a focused light beam is emitted from an emitter module onto an impedance matching reflector. The impedance matching reflector has similar wave propagation characteristics to the resonating body, so as to capture mechanical vibrations thereof. The impedance matching reflector reflects the focused light beam as it vibrates, and the vibrations are captured by a receiver module through the reflected light beam, which is converted to an input signal. The input signal may be further processed and converted to an audio output signal, as an accurate representation of the acoustic information emanating from within the resonating body.

The present invention relates to a device for auscultation of a body. An embodiment of the device includes a housing dimensioned and configured for disposition in an operative orientation relative to a predetermined portion of the body.
