The present embodiments relate generally to systems and methods for measuring an analyte in a host. More particularly, the present embodiments provide sensor applicators and methods of use with activation that implant the sensor, withdraw the insertion needle, engage the transmitter with the housing, and disengage the applicator from the housing. Systems and methods according to present principles allow for such steps to occur without significant loss of spring force, and without deleterious effects such as seal slingshotting.

Pre-connected analyte sensors are provided. A pre-connected analyte sensor includes a sensor carrier attached to an analyte sensor. The sensor carrier includes a substrate configured for mechanical coupling of the sensor to testing, calibration, or wearable equipment. The sensor carrier also includes conductive contacts for electrically coupling sensor electrodes to the testing, calibration, or wearable equipment.

An infusion set includes a base () and a flexible catheter () movable from a first catheter position disposed substantially entirely within the base () to a second catheter position in which a free end of the catheter () is disposed externally of the base (). An introducer needle () is located within the catheter () and is movable between a first introducer needle position disposed substantially entirely within the base () and a second introducer needle position in which a free end of the introducer needle () is disposed externally of the base (). A spring () is activated to move the catheter () from the first to the second catheter position and the introducer needle () from the first to the second introducer needle position to facilitate insertion of the catheter (). The introducer needle () is thereafter moved by the spring () back to the first introducer needle position to store the introducer needle () within the base () with the free end of the catheter () remaining disposed externally of the base ().

Sensor systems can be used to measure an analyte concentration. Sensor systems can include a base having a distal side configured to face towards a person's skin. An adhesive can couple the base to the skin. A transcutaneous analyte measurement sensor can be coupled to the base and can be located at least partially in the host. A transmitter can be coupled to the base and can transmit analyte measurement data to a remote device.

Self-contained spring inserter for drug delivery infusion set

An assembly for storing both new and used pen needles of an injection apparatus, comprising a plurality of storage units each configured to store a pen needle having a needle fixed to a hub, the plurality of storage units being hingedly connected, and each including a storage end, and a dispensing end having an anti-rotation structure, wherein the anti-rotation structure working in conjunction with the hub of the pen needle to prevent rotation of the pen needle when the pen needle is in a dispensing position.

Method of storing both new and used pen needles

A needle guard device mountable to a pre-filled syringe in its ready-to-fill state. The device includes a device shield interconnected to a lock collar with flexible member and biased to move relative to the lock collar. The lock collar interfaces with the syringe neck to attach the device to the syringe. As the device shield moves proximally, rotation arms of the lock collar interact with angled cutouts in the device shield, causing the device shield to rotate relative to the lock collar and disengaging one or more keys on the device shield from one or more keyways in the lock collar triggering the device shield to move from a first configuration in which the device shield is retractable to expose a syringe sharp to a second configuration in which the device shield is fixedly positioned to cover the syringe sharp.
