A computer includes a processor and a memory, and the memory stores instructions executable by the processor to receive range data from a range sensor of a vehicle, detect a person in proximity to the vehicle based on the range data, activate a camera of the vehicle upon detecting the person, set a parameter of one of the camera or a facial recognition algorithm based on the range data of the person, and perform the facial recognition algorithm on the person using data from the camera.

Activation of facial recognition

Surface penetrating radar interrogates a region adjacent a pathway of the vehicle in response to activation by a user. An object detection system which is responsive to the radar transceiver is configured to recognize one or more spatial signatures of one or more detected objects in the region. A controller coupled to the radar transceiver and the object detection system is configured to (i) compare a respective spatial signature of at least one of the detected objects to a plurality of predetermined target signatures to detect an infrastructure asset, (ii) assess a perimeter around the detected infrastructure asset to estimate a severity of an obstruction blocking the infrastructure asset, and (iii) convey an alert message to the user when the estimated severity is greater than a threshold.

Roadside infrastructure detection, localization, and monitoring

The disclosure generally pertains to systems and methods for use of a vehicle to conduct a site survey. An example method can include receiving navigation guidance to move a vehicle along a pre-defined path on a property for executing a site survey operation of the property. The site survey operation can include a staking procedure performed by a robotic arm attached to the vehicle, an image capture procedure performed by use of a camera in the vehicle, and/or a subterranean scanning procedure for detecting a buried object. In an example implementation, the staking procedure can include inserting at a first location on the property, a stake having affixed thereon, a barcode label. A barcode scanner can be used to read the barcode label for obtaining information associated with an object present at the first location.

Systems and methods for use of a vehicle to conduct a site survey operation

An automated projector image optimization (APIO) system for a vehicle having a control system is provided. The APIO system includes a projector configured to display an image, a processor configured to be electrically connected to the control system, and a memory having instructions that, when executed by the processor, cause the processor to perform operations including receiving a user input corresponding to a display surface, determining a preferred orientation of the projector relative to the display surface, and employing the control system to move the vehicle so that the projector is in the preferred orientation.

An example method may also include transmitting, using a radar transceiver, a first radar signal towards a location above the tailgate. An example vehicle can include a sensor platform and a controller that is configured to determine an object that is in front of the vehicle, determine the object as a hazard by at least one of determining, using dead reckoning, that the object is in a path of travel of the vehicle that will cause the object to travel under a restricted zone of the vehicle and/or the object has a height that is higher than a vehicle ride height.

Obstacle maneuver assistance systems and methods for vehicles

An enhanced validation mode for a vehicle is provided. Presence of a primary access device is identified, using a radio frequency (RF) transceiver of the vehicle. Responsive to the vehicle being in the enhanced validation mode, aspects of a secondary access device are validated with an access list descriptive of which secondary access devices are allowable for use in confirming a user is authorized, in addition to utilizing the primary access device to validate access to the vehicle, the secondary access device being a physical credential issued to a user to grant the user access to a physical location. Responsive to the vehicle not being in the enhanced validation mode, the primary access device but not the secondary access device are utilized to validate access to the vehicle.

Secondary authentication

This disclosure describes systems and methods for a ground-penetrating tailgate sensor system. An example method may include transmitting, using an ultra-wideband transceiver disposed of in a tailgate of a vehicle, a signal towards an underground location below the tailgate. The example method may also include receiving, based on the tailgate being in a closed position and using the ultra-wideband transceiver, a return signal from an object located above the vehicle.

Systems and methods for a tailgate sensor system

A vehicle entry system which identifies authorized users via facial recognition has an image sensor configured to capture real-time images according to a predetermined field of view from a vehicle. A lockout device is configured to selectably provide access to the vehicle. The entry system has a controller configured to (A) analyze a first one of the captured images for matching to a stored facial pattern corresponding to an authorized user of the vehicle, (B) detect a request for a secondary authentication after the captured image being analyzed fails to match the stored facial pattern, (C) analyze a second one of the captured images for a nonbiometric secondary code entrusted to a secondary user; and (D) issue a command for the lockout device to grant the access to the vehicle when the secondary code is detected.

Upon determining a first user of an object is authorized via first biometric data, object components are controlled based on user data for the first user. A second user is permitted to access the object based on detecting a presence of the second user within a predetermined time of detecting an absence of the first user. Then, upon determining a delay parameter is satisfied, a user status of the second user is determined via second biometric data. The user status is one of authorized or not authorized. The object components are controlled based on the user status of the second user.

Delayed biometric authorization

An electric vehicle having an electrical storage battery includes an inductive charge receiver configured to inductively couple to a series of charging coils embedded in a roadway over which the vehicle travels in order to transfer charge to the storage battery. A ground penetrating radar transceiver is configured to interrogate the roadway including a region of the roadway toward which the vehicle is heading. The ground penetrating radar transceiver generates reflectance data including reflections from the charging coils and from embedded cabling coupling the charging coils. An object analyzer is responsive to the reflectance data and configured to map the series of charging coils relative to the vehicle. A path controller is configured to determine a steering operation of the vehicle along the roadway for optimizing a charge transfer from the series of charging coils to the inductive charge receiver.

A computer, including a processor and a memory, the memory including instructions to be executed by the processor to acquire a first image with a visible and NIR light camera and acquire a second image with an infrared camera. The instructions can include further instructions to determine whether the second image includes a live human face by comparing a first infrared profile included in the second image with second infrared profile included in a previously acquired third image acquired with the infrared camera; and when the second image includes the live human face, output the first image.

Counterfeit image detection

A vehicle for improved user authentication is provided. The vehicle includes a biometric sensor; and a controller programmed to initiate a biometric authentication of a user within a vicinity of a vehicle using data received from the biometric sensor, and responsive to occurrence of a secondary trigger condition initiated by the user to gain access to the vehicle, complete the authentication to grant or deny access to the user. A system for remote management of lockout states for a vehicle is provided. A server is programmed to receive a lockout notification from the vehicle, responsive to occurrence of a failed access attempt using an access modality, the lockout notification including contextual information with respect to the occurrence of the failed access attempt; and send, responsive to the lockout notification, an indication of an administrative action to be performed by the vehicle.

A transfer key system for a vehicle may include a key receptacle configured to detect the presence of a transfer key, and a controller configured to receive key status signals from the key receptacle, and activate the transfer key as an active transfer key in response to the status signal indicating a removal of the transfer key from the key receptacle and receiving an authentication signal from a user.

Systems and methods for driver presence and position detection are disclosed herein. A method can include determining a presence and a position of a driver in a sensing zone of a vehicle using a sensor platform integrated into the vehicle, determining when the position of the driver indicates that the driver is not in a fully-seated position relative to a driver's seat of the vehicle, and selectively adjusting a vehicle parameter of the vehicle based on the driver not being in a fully-seated position.
